Current Opening - DSHS Client Referral Coordinator
Job Type: Full-Time (40 hours/week)
Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM (PST)
Work Location: Remote – Pierce County or near Spanaway, WA (occasional on-site work may be required as needed)
Pay: Starting at $23.00 per hour
Job Summary:
The DSHS Client Referral Coordinator is responsible for receiving and reviewing complete Department of Social and Health Services (DSHS) client referral packets, ensuring all required documentation and authorizations are in place prior to assignment. This position is employed by a private company contracted with DSHS and manages client referral coordination and authorization tracking for services provided by Independent Living Specialist (ILS) staff. The role serves as the primary liaison with DSHS case managers, works collaboratively in a virtual team environment, and supports timely, accurate, and compliant service delivery, along with other duties as assigned. Must be a self-starter, focused and reliable individual.
Key Responsibilities:
- Receive, review, and verify completeness of DSHS client referral packets and required documentation
- Coordinate and assign approved client referrals to Independent Living Specialist (ILS) staff
- Review and manage authorizations in the DSHS Provider One System prior to referral assignment
- Maintain accurate referral records in Client Staff Activity Tracker (CSAT) reports and electronic client files
- Serve as the primary point of contact with DSHS regarding client referrals and authorizations
- Track client authorizations and ensure extensions are obtained prior to expiration date
- Resolve client referral, documentation, or authorization issues to prevent service disruptions
Qualifications:
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Excellent organizational and time-management skills with attention to detail
- Customer service-focused and professional communication style
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office; Provider One experience preferred
- Ability to manage multiple referrals and meet deadlines
- Experience in non-medical social services, healthcare administration, or billing/coding is a plus
