Job Advertisement: Quality Control Lead NLS are seeking an experienced Quality Control Lead to join a chemical manufacturing organisation. The QC scientist will take on a pivotal role in managing the QC / analytical laboratory supporting chemical production and development. Responsibilities * Oversee the operations of the QC Laboratory. * Lead, mentor, and train QC Analysts. * Manage laboratory costs and stock levels, identifying opportunities for savings while ensuring operational efficiency. * Conduct precise testing of raw materials, intermediates, and final products using GC, HPLC, FTIR, KF, and titrations. * Review and interpret analytical data to ensure accuracy and compliance with quality standards. * Develop, update, and validate analytical methods and specifications to maintain robust and repeatable processes. * Perform routine maintenance and basic repairs on laboratory equipment, including GCs, HPLCs, and gas generators. * Coordinate with external suppliers and contractors for preventive maintenance, calibration, and repairs. * Provide technical support to Production and R&D teams. * Author and review technical documentation, including SOPs, Work Instructions, and quality policies. * Manage quality records, non-conformances, and compliance reports, driving Corrective and Preventive Actions (CAPA). * Participate in internal and external audits, ensuring audit readiness and compliance with quality standards. * Identify and implement process improvements to enhance laboratory capabilities and support company growth. Qualifications * BSc in Analytical Chemistry, Chemistry, or a related life science discipline. * 5+ years of relevant experience in chemical or pharmaceutical manufacturing * Proficiency in operating GC, HPLC, KF, FTIR, titrations. * Basic knowledge of maintenance and troubleshooting for laboratory equipment. * Familiarity with COSHH regulations and ISO 9001:2015 quality systems. * Strong problem-solving and instrument troubleshooting skills. * Proven expertise in a QC laboratory within the fine chemical or pharmaceutical sectors. * Demonstrated experience in mentoring and training of analysts.
