POSITION SUMMARY:

The PFA Facilitator assists clients who are petitioning to obtain a Protection from Abuse (PFA), Protection from Intimidation (PFI) Order, or a Protection from Sexual Violence (SVP) Order.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:

Essential Functions

The duties and responsibilities of this position include, but are not necessarily limited to:

  • Provide orientation and instructions to PFA, PFI, and SVP petitioners in person and by telephone, both in English and Spanish.
  • Assist PFA, PFI, and SVP petitioners by typing petitions on the statewide Protection from Abuse database (PFAD) and Omni Forms. This includes translating from Spanish to English as needed.
  • Assist PFA, PFI, and SVP petitioners with applying for Emergency orders with the Magisterial District Judges as needed.
  • Maintain statistics regarding PFA, PFI, and SVP filings.
  • Other duties as assigned, including being cross-trained to assist with other Family Court responsibilities.
  • General Office duties.

MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • High school diploma or G.E.D. certification from a recognized issuing agency.
  • Two (2) years of general office experience.
  • Any equivalent combination of experience and training that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.

MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

  • Excellent communication skills, including being bilingual and proficient in reading, writing, and speaking both English and Spanish.
  • Knowledge of the PFA, PFI, and SVP Acts.
  • The ability to use the Protection from Abuse Database (PFAD), Omni Forms, Microsoft Windows, and Excel.
  • The ability to operate a computer, word processor, printer, fax machine, and copier.
  • The ability to follow directions, work as a Team, and meet the individual expectations of the various Judges who sit in Family Court.
  • Strong customer service skills, especially when assisting filers who may be in crisis or be experiencing mental health issues
  • Ability to handle stress.
  • Physical presence in the office is required.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

Work involves standing, walking, sitting, lifting, carrying, talking, hearing, using hands to handle, feel objects, tools, or controls, and reaching with hands and arms. Reading and typing for long periods of time. Vision abilities required by this job include close vision and the ability to adjust focus. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 40 pounds a distance of 15 feet or less.
