About

Who We're Looking For

Hood Container Corporation is seeking an experienced Machine Operator to operate a Flexo Folder Gluer on 1st shift at our Chicago, IL facility. If you have corrugated industry experience, strong mechanical skills, and a focus on safety, quality, and productivity, we'd love to have you join our team.

The starting wage is $25.00 – $29.00 per hour, based on experience.

What You'll Do
  • Operate the Flexo Folder Gluer safely and efficiently to meet daily production goals.
  • Perform full machine setups, adjustments, and changeovers according to job specifications.
  • Interpret job tickets, print specs, and customer requirements.
  • Set and monitor print quality, registration, ink coverage, folding, and gluing performance.
  • Perform quality checks to ensure finished products meet specifications.
  • Troubleshoot mechanical, print, and quality issues to minimize downtime.
  • Communicate machine or quality issues to Maintenance or Supervision as needed.
  • Complete production, waste, downtime, and quality documentation accurately and on time.
  • Lead and coordinate Assistant Operators to ensure efficient workflow.
  • Assist with clean-up, housekeeping, and 5S activities to maintain machine efficiency.
  • Follow all safety policies, including Lockout/Tagout, PPE, and hazardous materials handling.
What You Bring
Education & Experience
  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • 2–5 years of experience operating a Flexo Folder Gluer in a corrugated manufacturing environment preferred.
  • Strong background in flexographic printing and corrugated converting operations.
Technical Skills
  • Ability to read work orders, job tickets, and production specifications.
  • Experience with ink formulation and color matching.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
  • Basic computer skills for production reporting and documentation.
  • Ability to lead, communicate, and work effectively with a machine crew.
Physical & Work Requirements
  • Ability to lift, push, and pull up to 45 lbs.
  • Ability to stand for long periods and perform repetitive tasks.
  • Work in a fast-paced, noisy, industrial environment with temperature ranges from 40°F to 120°F.
  • Ability to work 1st shift and overtime as needed.
