About
Urology office is looking for a qualified and experienced Referral Coordinator in our fast-paced out-patient urology clinic. This position will support both the Gilbert and Phoenix office in our Gilbert location.
Schedule: Full-time, Monday through Friday day shift position.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Ensure referrals are addressed in a timely manner
- Ensure proper authorization is obtained and with insurance companies to process referrals
- Verifies and updates patient registration information in the practice management system.
- Obtains benefit verification and necessary authorizations (referrals, precertification) prior to patient arrival for all ambulatory visits, procedures, injections and radiology services.
- Uses online, web based verification systems and reviews real-time eligibility responses to ensure accuracy of insurance eligibility.
- Creates appropriate referrals to attach to pending visits.
- Verifies patient demographic information and insurance eligibility including coordination of benefits; updates and confirms as necessary to allow processing of claims to insurance plans.
- Completes chart prepping tasks daily to ensure smooth check-in process for the patient and clinic.
- Fax referral form to providers that do not require any records to be sent. Be able to process 75-80 referrals on a daily basis. For primary specialty office visits, fax referral/authorization form to PCPs and insurance companies in a timely fashion.
Knowledge and Skills:
- Knowledge of Medical Office operations.
- Knowledge of medical terminology.
- Knowledge of CPT, ICD-9, ICD-10, HCPCS coding.
- Proficiency in basic mathematics, Microsoft Office, Word, Outlook, and Internet.
- Ability to use office equipment, computer.
- Able to be in a seated position, talk on the phone, repetitive keyboard usage and clarity of vision at 20 inches or less.
Education and Experience:
- 2-3 years' experience processing referrals within a medical specialty office.
- 2-3 years of medical insurance experience to include knowledge of all insurance types and benefit structures.
