About

Instructs, plans, develops, coordinates, delivers, and evaluates department training classes or programs. Employees at this level establish their own work plan and priorities to meet set objectives. Issues are rarely referred to the supervisor but are handled at the occurrence. 

Essential Duties:

  • Assists in the identification of courses to be converted to a VTC format, on-line course format or blended learning format.

  • Conducts curriculum revisions and reviews. 

  • Designs and develops methods, including surveys, for assessing and evaluating training effectiveness and sets up evaluation measures.

  • Establishes course schedules and district or division training slots based on annual needs 

  • Facilitates meetings. 

  • Follows approved lesson plans by either Instructor Led Training (ILT) or by means of Video Maintains liaison with Department training coordinators, sponsoring steering or oversight Monitors and oversees instructional program area and associated budgets.

  • Organizes and directs training teams and resources to complete staff development and instructional projects.

  • Participates in the writing or rewriting of courses to be delivered in VTC, on-line or blended learning training delivery formats. 

  • Performs trend analysis and/or prepares special research projects and statistical reports. 

  • Plans, designs, develops, coordinates, administers and instructs Department training programs in management, staff development, automation, technical/engineering or other topics which may include use of basic instructional technologies. 

  • Provides consultation to districts and divisions on training matters regarding evaluation, alternative training strategies, including related costs and e-learning delivery methodologies. 

  • Represents the districts or divisions the Department at meetings related to training or staff development.

  • Researches and reviews commercial materials for inclusion in the Department's training curricula.

  • Travels/drives to administer/perform training functions. 

  • Performs other job related responsibilities as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

Education: Bachelor's Degree in Education, Communications, Business or related disciplines. Relevant work experience may be substituted for degree on a year per year basis. Substitutions for Minimum Qualifications

Experience: 4 years training, adult education or staff development activities. (Experience can be satisfied by full time or prorated part time equivalent). Related graduate level education may be substituted for experience on a year per year basis.

Licenses and Certifications: Valid driver's license. This position requires driving a state vehicle.

    Other Attributes:

  • Exercises logic and reasoning to define problems, establish facts and draw valid conclusions; makes decisions that support business objectives and goals

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:
  • Sedentary work: Lift up to 10 lbs at a time and occasionally carry files/small tools 

  • Light work: Lift up to 20 lbs at a time and frequently lift or carry objects up to 10 lbs 

  • Standing-prolonged periods of time

  • Repetitive Motion-substantial movements of the wrists, hands, and/or fingers 

  • Close Visual Acuity-work includes data/figures; view a computer screen; extensive reading
