This role supports the design and development of mechanical systems and components across multiple product lines in a collaborative, cross-functional engineering environment.

Job Duties
:


• Assist in the design and development of mechanical systems, components, and subassemblies


• Create and revise detailed drawings, layouts, and schematics


• Support senior engineers with designs, DFMEAs, and validation testing


• Participate in prototype builds, test planning, and inspection activities


• Analyze test results and recommend design improvements


• Contribute to innovation initiatives and patent development


• Support root cause analysis and corrective actions for quality issues


• Support field service and sales teams with technical issue resolution


• Participate in continuous improvement initiatives and team-based problem-solving


• Assist with building, testing, and inspecting electro-mechanical systems in lab or field environments


• Travel up to 10% to customer and manufacturing sites as needed

Qualifications
:


• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering (ABET-accredited)


• 3+ years of relevant engineering experience


• Experience supporting mechanical system development in transportation applications


• Familiarity with mechanical design, manufacturing principles, and engineering practices


• Basic project management skills, including scope, planning, and cost awareness


• Familiarity with NPD Stage Gate processes, DFMEA, DFM/DFA, engineering analysis, and hand calculations


• Proficiency in SolidWorks or similar CAD software


• Strong problem-solving, organizational, and time management skills


• Ability to work independently on defined tasks and collaborate effectively within a team


• Demonstrated competencies in problem analysis, results orientation, integrity, teamwork, learning ability, creativity, adaptability, stress tolerance, self-organization, and self-development


• Ability to perform primarily office-based work, use a computer for extended periods, occasionally lift up to 25 pounds, and navigate manufacturing or lab environments
