Position Overview

The California State Teachers' Retirement System (CalSTRS) is seeking an experienced Business Intelligence Developer to support enterprise-wide Business Intelligence, Data Warehouse, and Generative BI (GenBI) initiatives as part of its digital transformation strategy.

The BI Developer will work closely with business stakeholders, data architects, ETL developers, and project teams to design, develop, and deliver high-quality analytics solutions that provide actionable insights, predictive intelligence, and automated reporting.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and maintain Business Intelligence dashboards, reports, and analytics solutions
  • Build and optimize Power BI reports, semantic models, and visualizations
  • Write, optimize, and maintain complex SQL queries, procedures, functions, and views
  • Develop and support data solutions using Snowflake or AWS Redshift
  • Integrate Generative AI and Machine Learning capabilities into BI platforms to automate insights and deliver predictive analytics
  • Translate business requirements into functional and technical design documents
  • Partner with business users to define KPIs, metrics, and reporting needs
  • Conduct functional testing and certify BI solutions prior to user acceptance
  • Monitor, troubleshoot, and optimize performance of reports and analytics solutions
  • Perform deep-dive data analysis to identify trends, risks, and opportunities
  • Develop documentation, user guides, and knowledge
