Job description: As a Crew Lead, you will supervise daily traffic control operations on construction and utility job sites. You'll lead a team of traffic control technicians and flaggers, ensuring all work is performed safely, efficiently, and in compliance with approved traffic control plans and relevant regulations.

Responsibilities:

  • Supervise, lead, and coordinate traffic control crews in the setting up, monitoring and removing traffic control work zones.
  • Ensure all operations meet VWAPM and project-specific requirements
  • Follow approved traffic control plans and job-site safety procedures
  • Communicate with contractors, clients, and company leadership regarding daily site operations.
  • Help with training crew members on best practices and job expectations.
  • Implement traffic management plans to ensure all on-site personnel and procedures comply with regulations.
  • Use two-way radios to communicate traffic flow information and coordinate with the team.
  • Assess and adapt to changing traffic volumes and weather conditions to maintain a safe and efficient environment.
  • Maintain a detailed log of daily traffic control manpower and activities and any notable events for office records and compliance.
  • Conduct regular inspections and maintenance on all traffic control sights and equipment to ensure they are clean and functioning correctly.

Qualifications:

  • A valid driver's license and reliable transportation to and from work.
  • A valid Virginia Intermediate traffic control certificate
  • Previous Virginia traffic control experience
  • Strong communication and team management
  • The ability to pass a pre-employment drug screening and background check.
  • Strong verbal communication skills and the ability to give and follow instructions.
  • Physical fitness to handle the demands of the job, including lifting equipment up to 50 pounds and standing for long durations.
  • Willingness to work flexible hours, including early mornings, nights, and weekends as required.
  • Willingness to work out of town as required.
