Speech Therapist - School - Leave Position

Leave position starting: 1/2026

Salary range $39.60/hr -$53.77/hr Depending on Experience

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Speech/Language Pathology with NYS teaching certification required;
  • Clinical Fellowship Year opportunity available.
  • Preferred:
    • Masters degree in Speech/Language Pathology preferred;
    • NYS professional licensure and ASHA Certificate of Clinical Competence preferred

Who we are:
Wildwood School, a part of Wildwood Programs, provides a comprehensive educational program for students with autism spectrum disorders, and developmental disabilities to prepare them to be as independent as possible; Academic, social, employment, and functional skills are taught to each student as driven by their Individual Educational Plan (IEP), needs, and interests.

Who we are looking for: A Speech Therapist, who will enjoy working in a special education school environment, where passion and creativity rule to provide children with disabilities, like autism, a robust learning experience.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Completes in-depth diagnostic evaluations of students' speech, language, and communication abilities and audiological screenings.
  • Presents a comprehensive analysis of students' communication abilities and needs.
  • Develops and implements effective goals, techniques and lessons.
  • Incorporates available technology (software, adaptive equipment, AAC devices, internet research) to maximize students' potential.
  • Works with students and their families holistically.
  • Integrates goals across program, including community.
  • Trains team members in the application of techniques.
  • Works collaboratively with team members to solve problems.
  • Uses effective proactive and reactive behavior management strategies.

Additional Requirements:

  • A valid New York State Driver's License and ability to drive and driving record acceptable for agency insurance coverage are required.
  • Must have daily access to their own vehicle and drive our students when the program requires it.
  • Required to complete, pass, and use CALM training, provided by the school, which includes deescalation strategies and approved protective holds and movements for students.
