Summary
We are seeking a dependable and compassionate Veterinary Assistant to support ultrasound examinations in the greater Boston area. This role focuses on patient handling, preparation, and monitoring during imaging procedures while assisting ultrasound technicians in delivering high-quality, low-stress care. The ideal candidate is calm under pressure, team-oriented, and comfortable working in fast-paced veterinary environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Safely restrain, position, prepare, and monitor animals during ultrasound examinations
- Support ultrasound technicians by maintaining patient comfort, safety, and quality care throughout imaging sessions
- Administer medications under supervision and in accordance with established protocols
- Maintain a clean, organized, and professional clinical environment before, during, and after procedures
- Assist with setup, breakdown, and basic cleaning of ultrasound equipment
- Observe patient behavior and promptly communicate concerns to the technician or veterinarian
- Remain calm and effective during high-stress situations and veterinary emergencies
- Accurately document patient information or assist with record-keeping as needed
- Travel locally to various clinics and hospitals as required
- Represent the organization professionally when working with partner clinics and clients
Qualifications & Skills
- Previous experience as a veterinary assistant or in animal handling required
- Comfortable working with animals of varying sizes, breeds, and temperaments
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- Ability to remain focused and compassionate in fast-paced or stressful situations
- Physical ability to safely lift, restrain, and position animals
- Valid driver's license and ability to travel locally
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $24.00 per hour
Expected hours: 16 – 24 per week
