Mechanical Design Engineer Derby £40,000 - £50,000 + Hybrid Working + Long-Term Career Stability + Excellent Benefits Are you a Mechanical Design Engineer looking for a technically engaging role that offers long-term stability, involvement in complex engineering projects, and the opportunity to work within a highly experienced design team? This is an excellent opportunity to join a well-established engineering business with decades of experience delivering high-quality engineered solutions across demanding industries. You'll be working as a Mechanical Design Engineer, taking ownership of mechanical design activities from concept through to detailed design and manufacture. The role offers a strong balance of hands-on design work and collaborative project involvement, working closely with fellow design engineers, manufacturing teams, suppliers, and customers. Your Role As a Design Engineer Will Include: *
Creating mechanical design concepts, layouts, and engineered solutions * Producing 3D models and detailed manufacturing drawings to ISO and/or ASME standards * Creating and maintaining Bills of Materials (BoMs) and technical documentation * Performing engineering calculations to verify and validate designs * Participating in internal and customer-facing design reviews * Liaising with suppliers and manufacturers to support cost-effective and efficient production * Supporting projects through the full design lifecycle from concept to delivery * Working in line with company procedures, quality systems, and engineering standards As a Design Engineer You Will Have: *
A Degree or HNC/HND in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering (or similar) * Experience with Siemens NX * A solid understanding of mechanical engineering design principles and analysis * Knowledge of manufacturing processes such as machining, fabrication, welding, or additive manufacturing * Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively within a team * Good organisational skills with attention to detail * Computer literacy, including Microsoft Office * A proactive approach and the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities
