Under the direction of the Production Manager, the Assistant Production Manager directs the activities of assigned department(s) and provides leadership and supervision to employees. Maintains efficient productivity levels in order to meet scheduled production requirements. Is responsible for safety, productivity, and quality. Ensures employees have the required materials, components, tools, and equipment needed to perform their tasks safely and efficiently. Follows and promotes continuous improvement and 6-S standards. Responsible for compliance and administration of policies and procedures.

**This position is for the night/3rd shift**

Essential Functions, Duties and Responsibilities

  • Create and maintain a safe work environment.
  • Provide leadership, direction, training, coaching, and corrective action to assigned plant floor personnel.
  • Delegate tasks, assign resources, and coordinate activities with other manufacturing personnel to meet production goals.
  • Maintain consistent communication with Manufacturing leadership, production personnel, and other departments and employees.
  • Ensure parts and products meet acceptable quality standards.
  • Inform appropriate personnel when machinery, equipment, or tools need repair.
  • Monitor production data and make adjustments as necessary. Collect and organize data that is used to perform analysis on goals and metrics.
  • Drive accountability in all interactions in manufacturing.
  • Maintain thorough knowledge of all processes and equipment, including maintenance, set-up, tooling, and programming.
  • Assist in preparing and conducting employee Job Performance Evaluations (JPEs).
  • Manage employee paid time off and attendance.
  • Maintain 6-S in work areas.
  • Delegate tasks and assign resources to meet goals.
  • Operate equipment or perform assembly operations as needed.
  • Perform the duties of Production Manager when required.
  • Work in an extremely safe manner, and comply with all federal, state, and company safety regulations and procedures.
  • Promote an environment of mutual respect; quickly address and eliminate any complaints, discrimination, or harassment among employees.

Requirements:

  • Three (3) years' experience in manufacturing operations with previous leadership experience preferred.
  • Broad knowledge of manufacturing processes.
  • Ability to read drawings and production documents.
  • Team and customer service orientation; ability to build teams and foster an environment of teamwork and cooperation.
  • Must be highly responsive and possess a strong sense of urgency and willingness to do what it takes to service both internal and external customers.
  • Strong time management and organizational skills; ability to prioritize multiple tasks and responsibilities.
  • Excellent communication, listening and interpersonal skills; must be able to communicate effectively in both written and verbal form.
  • Ability to read and correctly interpret all production paperwork.
  • Good problem-solving, judgment and decision-making skills; able to make decisions and follow-through.
  • Superior attendance, reliability, and work performance records.
  • Ability to build teams and encourage an environment of teamwork and cooperation.
  • Ability to be successfully trained and licensed for forklift, pallet jack, and other manufacturing operations.
  • Ability and willingness to work extra hours.
  • Computer literacy, including the ability to word process, utilize software applications, and use electronic mail.

Physical Demands and Work Environment

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, sit, talk, see, and hear. The employee is occasionally required to stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, and reach with hands and arms. The employee may occasionally lift and/or move 50 or more pounds. Occasional travel and/or driving is required. Noise levels are typically low to moderate.
