Software Engineer

MOEV Inc., a California-based startup with operations in Los Angeles and Silicon Valley, has developed Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning (ML) technology for Smart Management of Electric Vehicle Charging Infrastructure with a focus on Fleets. MOEV's Los Angeles office is seeking a full-time, in-office position for a AI/ML Software Engineer to design, deploy, and scale production-grade machine learning systems in a fast-growing startup environment:

Education:

• MS degree (or higher) in Computer Science, Data Science, Mathematics, Engineering, or a related field or equivalent practical experience.

Requirements:

• 2+ years of professional software development experience with strong proficiency in Python; familiarity with R is a plus.
• Strong knowledge of data structures and algorithms gained through industry or academic experience.
• Hands-on experience building scalable end-to-end AI data pipelines, including data ingestion, preprocessing, automated feature engineering, and feature selection for real-world AI models.
• Proven experience deploying machine learning and deep learning models into production using tools such as PyTorch, Keras, Scikit-learn, or XGBoost.
• Experience with data analysis, backend data pipeline, exploratory data analysis (EDA), model interpretation, and data visualization.
• Experience with AWS and GCP, including serverless, containerization, and data services - Lambda, API Gateway, Docker, ECS/ECR, S3, SQS.
• Experience working with relational databases and writing efficient queries using SQL.
• Knowledge of optimization techniques using classical methods as well as AI and machine learning algorithms within software development workflows.

• Ability to work effectively in a small, fast-moving, cross-functional team.
• Strong communication skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
• Willingness to collaborate closely with product managers, designers, and backend engineers.
• Experience gathering requirements directly from end customers or internal users and translating them into technical solutions.
• Proactive in sharing knowledge, giving and receiving feedback, and contributing to team learning.
• Comfortable taking ownership of features and driving them from concept to production.
• Adaptable and eager to learn in an evolving startup environment.

Optional but valuable:

• Experience working with Natural Language Processing (NLP) techniques and applications.
• Familiarity with web technologies such as HTML, PHP, JavaScript, and related frameworks.
• Experience developing mobile applications for both iOS and Android platforms.
• Domain experience in transportation, energy, electric vehicles (EV), or telematics data.

Job Types: Full-time, Contract

Pay: $82, $120,000.00 per year
