Job Description Salary: $130,000-$140,000
Who are we: Toyota Insurance Management Solutions, including its affiliates Connected Analytic Services (CAS) and Advanced Connectivity (collectively TIMS) is a joint venture between Aioi Nissay Dowa Insurance Services, USA (AIS) and Toyota Financial Services International Corporation. Our objective is to sell and service innovative auto insurance products to Toyota and Lexus owners with a specific focus on telematics-enabled, usage-based insurance (UBI).
Job Overview: We are seeking a highly driven and innovativeData Scientist with a strong focus on UBI telematics, conversational AI, AIenabled insights, and operational efficiency. In this role, you will transform complex data into actionable intelligence by leading efforts in advanced analytics, model development, data visualization, regulatory model filing, and endtoend deployment of scalable solutions. Success in this position requires strong software engineering skills, a collaborative mindset, and the ability to communicate technical concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders. Job Responsibilities:
* Work with internal and external organizations to identify data requirements and available data sources. * Translate business problems into data science solutions by rapid prototyping and utilizing insurance domain knowledge. * Data analysis, visualization, model development, and deployment using Python and AWS while meeting regulatory and privacy requirements. * Develop and manage tools and libraries that are reusable across the company.
Required Education and Experience:
* Bachelors or Masters degree in data science, Machine Learning, Artificial Intelligence, Robotics, Computational Linguistics, or Computer Science.
* 3+ years of direct experience in telematics, IoT, or mobility. * 3+ years of experience applying machine learning in an insurance or regulated environment.
* Experience operationalizing models via APIs and ML Ops pipelines. * Experience building solutions in cloud-based data platforms (AWS). * Experience implementing solutions using statistical techniques and machine learning, including deep learning. * Actuarial designation is desired but not required. * Advanced hands-on experience with SQL. * Experience with geospatial data and tools. * Experience with machine learning deployment, such as containerization and CI/CD. * Prior experience in P&C insurance, especially UBI, is highly preferred.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
* Strong knowledge of machine learning, statistical modeling, and data science principles. * Working knowledge of telematics or IoT and their application to risk and behavioral analysis. * Understanding of insurance fundamentals, including pricing, claims, and regulatory considerations. * Advanced analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to translate business problems/questions into data-driven solutions. * Ability to work effectively with large, complex, and ambiguous datasets in fast-moving environments. * Solid proficiency in Python and experience with ML libraries (TensorFlow, scikit-learn, PyTorch, etc.). * LLM-based Conversational AI development experience is a strong plus. * Ability to continuously learn and apply emerging AI techniques and industry best practices. * Exposure with technical documentation and cross-cultural collaboration is a plus.

Compensation:
* $130,000-$140,000 based on skills and experience
Work Environment and Physical Demands:
* This role operates in a professional office environment, requiring the ability to work for extended periods at a computer and participate in virtual and in-person meetings. * Hybrid schedule with a minimum of two in-office days weekly. * Must be authorized to work in the United States and able to meet any applicable employment eligibility requirements.
