This is a central engineering team that supports various initiatives around SoundCloud, including marketing technology, privacy consent and observability, across web and mobile devices. As an engineer on this team, you can expect a fast-paced environment and a variety of types of projects. Great communication skills are a must!/ph3Key Responsibilities:/h3ulliDevelop and optimize SQL data models and queries for analytics, reporting, and operational use cases./liliDesign and maintain ETL/ELT workflows using Apache Airflow, ensuring reliability, scalability, and data integrity./liliCollaborate with analysts and business teams to translate data needs into efficient, automated data pipelines and datasets./liliOwn and enhance data quality and validation processes, ensuring accuracy and completeness of business-critical metrics./liliBuild and maintain reporting layers, supporting dashboards and analytics tools (e.g. Looker, or similar)./liliTroubleshoot and tune SQL performance, optimizing queries and data structures for speed and scalability./liliContribute to data architecture decisions, including schema design, partitioning strategies, and workflow scheduling./liliMentor junior engineers, advocate for best practices and promote a positive team culture./li/ulh3Experience and Background:/h3ulli7+ years of experience in data engineering, analytics engineering, or similar roles./liliExpert-level SQL skills, including performance tuning, advanced joins, CTEs, window functions, and analytical query design./liliProven experience with Apache Airflow (designing DAGs, scheduling, task dependencies, monitoring, Python)./liliFamiliarity with event-driven architectures and messaging systems (Pub/Sub, Kafka, etc.)/liliKnowledge of data governance, schema management, and versioning best practices/liliUnderstanding observability practices: logging, metrics, tracing, and incident response/liliExperience deploying and managing services in cloud environments, preferably GCP, AWS/liliExcellent communication skills and a collaborative mindset./li/ulpThe salary range for this role is $160,000 - $210,000 annually. The final salary offered will be determined based on relative experience, skills, internal equity, and location.
