Barista/Cashier

Job Overview

Wonderift is seeking a dynamic and friendly Barista to join our team. As a Barista, you will be responsible for preparing high-quality beverages, scratch-made syrups and food items, providing excellent customer service, and maintaining a welcoming, clean coffee shop environment. Your role will involve working with various equipment in a customer-facing role.

Duties

• Prepare and serve a variety of coffee beverages, teas, and other specialty drinks according to established recipes and standards.
• Prepare and assemble food items including bagels and burritos in accordance with safety guidelines and quality standards, ensuring consistency, presentation, and timely service.
• Operate the cash register and handle cash transactions accurately while maintaining a balanced cash drawer.
• Engage with customers to take orders, provide recommendations, and ensure satisfaction with their experience.
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of the coffee shop, including workstations, dining areas, bathroom, kitchen, and equipment.
• Monitor inventory levels of coffee beans, milk, syrups, and other supplies; assist in restocking and preparing items as needed.
• Utilize basic math skills for accurate cash handling and sales transactions.
• Collaborate with team members to create a positive work environment while managing time effectively during busy periods.

Requirements

• Previous experience in a similar role is a plus but not required.
• Passion for specialty coffee and willingness to learn.
• Strong customer service skills with the ability to communicate effectively and build rapport with a range of customers.
• Thrives in a fast-paced work environment with the ability to multitask.
• Basic math skills for handling cash transactions and understanding retail math concepts.
• Familiarity with POS systems or cash registers.
• Ability to manage time efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail.
• Must be able to stand for extended periods and perform tasks that require physical stamina.
• Must be available mornings; position requires morning shift start times on weekdays/weekends.
• Seasonal availability and weekend shifts are mandatory requirements to support business operations during peak periods.
• Drivers license and/or reliable transportation.
• ANSI-accredited Food Handler's Certificate.
• Must be 18 years of age or older.
