Personal Support Worker

We are currently recruiting a competent, compassionate Personal Support Worker (PSW) to join our clinical team

Casual Position Available

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Three (3) years of recent hospice palliative care experience
• Understanding of therapeutic relationships and how to maintain professional boundaries
• Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and take direction from others
• Keen observation skills, sound judgement and ability to problem-solve
• Ability to communicate observations/concerns with diplomacy, sensitivity and professionalism
• Attention to detail, strong organizational skills and effective time management skills
• Demonstrates compassion and caring while providing the highest quality of care
• Excellent interpersonal communication and problem-solving skills
• Experience in a hospice residence or with a palliative community caseload preferred

SPECIFIC REQUIREMENTS:

• Personal Support Worker Certificate/Diploma from a recognized program
• Evidence of ongoing education in hospice palliative care, or willingness to complete
• Current BCLS certification
• Current Standard First Aid certification
• Vulnerable Sector Check clearance (within 3 months, or obtained prior to start)

ABILITIES:

• Computer literate and able to work with Microsoft Suite
• Knowledge of InfoAnywhere documentation system an asset
• Ability to meet the physical demands of the position (including sitting/standing for long periods of time, lifting/turning/repositioning and transferring residents)
• Able to work both day and night shifts including every other weekend
