Water Softener & Reverse Osmosis Installer (Residential) – Full Time

Location: Edmonton Metropolitan Region, Alberta

Company: Water Softener Edmonton Ltd. Locally owned and trusted provider of residential water treatment solutions across Alberta.

Role Description: We are seeking a skilled and reliable Water Softener, Reverse Osmosis (RO), and Well-Water Treatment Installer to join our residential installation team.

This is a full-time, on-site position covering installations and service calls across the Edmonton region.

The ideal candidate will be responsible for the installation, configuration, maintenance, and repair of:

  • Water softeners

  • Under-sink RO systems (4-stage/5-stage systems)

  • Well-water treatment equipment

(AIO iron filters, manganese filters, carbon tanks, UV sterilizers, sediment filtration, pressure tank connections)

Key Responsibilities

Installation & Technical Work

Install, configure, and program residential water softeners (Fleck 5800SXT/5800XTR2, Clack WS1, etc.)

Install under-sink and point-of-use RO systems

(drain saddle, angle stop valve, tank placement, TDS testing)

Install and commission well-water systems:

AIO iron/manganese filters

Catalytic carbon tanks

Spin-down filters

Big Blue 10″/20″ housings

UV disinfection systems

Air injection, venturi systems, and media-based filters

Ensure proper drain connections, brine line routing, and plumbing tie-ins (PEX, copper, PVC)

Perform system programming and regeneration setup for softeners and filtration tanks

Conduct TDS, hardness, flow-rate, and pressure testing post-installation

Maintenance & Service

Replace RO filters, membranes, UV lamps, sediment and carbon cartridges

Perform media top-ups/rebeds (resin, catalytic carbon, Katalox)

Diagnose system malfunctions (low pressure, no regeneration, continuous drain flow, bridging, high TDS, etc.)

Optimize system performance based on water chemistry and customer requirements

Customer Interaction & Documentation

Explain system operation, maintenance schedules, and troubleshooting to homeowners

Complete service reports, installation notes, and photo documentation

Maintain a clean, safe workspace and follow Alberta plumbing and safety guidelines

Represent the brand professionally at all customer interactions

Required Qualifications

Technical Skills

Hands-on experience installing and servicing:

Water softeners

RO systems

Well-water treatment (iron, manganese, carbon, sediment, UV)

Strong plumbing skills (cutting PEX/copper, fittings, drain lines, shutoff valves)

Knowledge of water chemistry basics (hardness, iron, manganese, TDS)

Ability to troubleshoot flow issues, pressure problems, leaks, RO waste ratio issues, and valve errors

Experience & Education

Minimum 1–2 years experience in residential plumbing, water treatment installation, or similar technical field

Relevant certifications (plumbing/apprenticeship/water treatment training) are an asset

Prior experience with Pentair/Fleck/Clack valves is a must

Soft Skills

Excellent communication and customer service abilities

Strong documentation habits and attention to detail

Ability to work independently and efficiently

Problem-solving mindset under field conditions

Other Requirements

Valid Alberta Class 5 driver's licence with a clean driving record

Ability to lift 50–70 lbs (softener tanks, media bags)

Comfortable working in basements, mechanical rooms, crawl spaces, and tight areas

Must be legally eligible to work in Canada
