Network Engineer Layer 3 Network Engineer Responsibilities : Design and Configure Networks : You'll work with DIA based connections, configuring hardware, software, and communication links. Troubleshoot Network Performance Issues : Identify and resolve any network-related performance issues, outages, ongoing network performance issues. Implement Routing Protocols : Familiarity with protocols like BGP (Border Gateway Protocol), OSPF (Open Shortest Path First), and MPLS (Multiprotocol Label Switching). Firewall Experience : Exposure to firewalls such as Cisco ASA, Juniper SRX, and FortiGate or SonicWall. Hands-On Experience : Extensive work with Cisco switches, routers, and Juniper Core devices. Procedure and Documentation : Must be detailed oriented and ability to document procedures, strong communications skills and ability to troubleshoot in stressful environments. Certifications and Skills : CCNA, CCNP, or CCIE : Certifications in Cisco networking is valuable. Or Equivalent Juniper Certifications : Service Provider Routing and Switching: JNCIA-Junos, JNCIS-SP, JNCIP-SP, and JNCIE-SP Layer 2 and Layer 3 Internetworking : Strong knowledge of these technologies. Network Troubleshooting Skills : Essential for diagnosing and resolving issues. Willingness to Learn : Stay updated with new technologies deployed across the network. Work Schedule : Remote work. Provin ability to work from home in home environment, self-motivated, ability to be on call. Some night shifts during specific project phases. Remote travel required Design and Planning : Network engineers plan and design data communication networks that align with their organization's needs. Can create network drawings, considering scalability, security, and performance. Implementation and Management : Once deployed, network architects oversee the network implementation process, ensuring it adheres to schedules and budgets. They manage information and network security, implementing necessary upgrades to hardware and software. Ongoing Monitoring and Maintenance : Network engineers continuously monitor network performance and assess future needs through network modeling. They maintain documentation, including network drawings and configurations.
These professionals collaborate closely with end customers to deploy and maintain the customer infrastructure, and daily activities.
