Role Description

This is a contract-based remote role for an Object Storage Engineer. The role involves managing storage environments, implementing storage solutions, addressing technical challenges, and ensuring data replication best practices. The engineer will be responsible for monitoring storage performance, maintaining system reliability, and enhancing storage infrastructure efficiency.

Job Summary

Senior Infrastructure Engineer on the Object Storage Engineering team. You will design, validate and operate object storage solutions to meet business needs and platform growth. Work closely with architecture and operational support to certify releases, recommend strategic direction, and provide L2 guidance. Lead technical initiatives spanning technology and business needs and help remediate complex support issues.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead or participate in high-level technical concepts spanning technology and business.
  • Develop specifications for complex infrastructure systems; design and test solutions.
  • Contribute to testing of business, application and technical infrastructure requirements.
  • Drive solutions to reduce recovery time and risk.
  • Review and analyze solutions for cloud security, secrets management and key rotation.
  • Design, code, test, debug and document programs using Agile practices.
  • Design and plan complex system upgrades and migrations.
  • Identify and resolve troublesome trends; develop long-range plans to prevent recurrence.
  • Direct daily risk/control flow for operations; focus on policies, procedures and standards.
  • Collaborate with peers, colleagues and managers to resolve issues and achieve goals.
  • Provide Level-2 operational support and guidance as required.

Required Qualifications

  • 8+ years of object storage experience.
  • 8+ years experience with NAS, SAN and backup environments.
  • Experience with one or more of the following:
  • Operating systems: Windows, VMware, Linux
  • Databases: SQL, Oracle
  • Networking: Cisco, Firewalls
  • Programming/Scripting: Python

Desired Qualifications

  • Advanced scripting skills (automation focus).
  • Deep understanding of infrastructure engineering technologies.
  • Proven ability to remediate difficult technical support issues.
  • Strong verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team on overlapping projects.
  • Experience working across geographically dispersed teams.
  • Customer-focused, service-oriented attitude.
  • Proven analytical and troubleshooting skills for complex system configurations.
  • Agile methodology experience.
  • Risk management and mitigation experience.
