High Voltage Electrical Estimator (Kearney, Nebraska) Position Overview
Our client, a national electrical contracting firm with multiple office locations in Nebraska, is seeking an experienced Estimator to support
high-voltage substation, transmission, and distribution
projects across Nebraska. This role will be responsible for preparing accurate, competitive estimates and supporting project execution from bid through turnover.

High Voltage Electrical Estimator Responsibilities

• Prepare estimates for substation, transmission, and distribution projects, including lump-sum, design-build/EPC, and design-assist work.
• Review RFPs, plans, and specifications to define scope, identify risks, and develop complete bid proposals.
• Coordinate scope divisions and pricing with material vendors and subcontractors; qualify quotes and manage RFIs during the bid phase.
• Conduct site visits as needed to support estimate accuracy and proposal development.
• Ensure compliance with local, state, and national electrical codes and utility standards.
• Develop preliminary project schedules to support bid strategy and milestone planning.
• Support bid award handoff, material buyouts, and ongoing coordination with construction teams.

High Voltage Electrical Estimator Qualifications

• Associate or Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or equivalent industry experience.
• 5+ years of experience estimating high-voltage substation, transmission, or utility electrical projects.
• Strong ability to read and interpret drawings, specifications, and contract documents.
• Knowledge of utility industry codes, standards, and regulations.
• Proficiency with MS Office (Excel, Word, Project, PowerPoint) and construction estimating software.
• Experience working with material suppliers and subcontractors in a utility or high-voltage environment.
• Willingness to travel occasionally as required.
