Reports To: Director of Technology
Contract Length: 260 Days
Work Schedule: 8 Hours per Day
FLSA Status: Exempt (Salaried)
POSITION SUMMARYThe Technology Technician provides technical support for hardware, software, networks, and instructional technology throughout the district. This position responds to technology requests, installs and maintains equipment, troubleshoots issues, supports building staff with technology needs, and ensures reliable and secure operation of district technology systems. The Technology Technician is a key member of the Technology Department and supports districtwide initiatives under the direction of the Director of Technology.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONSTechnical Support & Troubleshooting
Provides timely and professional technical support to staff, students, and administrators.
Troubleshoots and resolves issues related to computers, printers, projectors, interactive displays, Chromebooks, tablets, and other classroom technology.
Responds to help desk tickets and documents work within district systems.
Diagnoses hardware and software problems and completes repairs or replacements.
Installs, configures, and tests computers, peripherals, and instructional technology equipment.
Performs routine maintenance on devices, including updates, imaging, and cleaning.
Sets up technology for classrooms, trainings, meetings, and special events.
Assists with inventory management and equipment tracking.
Supports end-user connectivity to district networks, Wi-Fi, and systems.
Assists with troubleshooting network-related issues under the direction of the Director of Technology.
Supports user access, login issues, printer mapping, and device authentication.
Follows district protocols for security and data protection.
Assists staff with basic technology training, including device use, software navigation, and troubleshooting steps.
Communicates clearly with users to explain issues, solutions, and next steps.
Provides documentation or quick guides when needed.
- Must learn and be able to use Skyward Student Management System for technology-related support.
- Must learn and be able to assist with Frontline Absence Management System troubleshooting.
Must be proficient in or willing to learn Google Workspace (Docs, Sheets, Forms, Gmail, and Drive).
Uses the district help desk ticketing system to track and resolve all technology requests.
Works with the Technology Department on districtwide projects and upgrades.
Assists with device rollouts, deployment events, and summer tech refresh.
Supports testing platforms and technology needs during state assessments.
Maintains positive working relationships with building staff and administrators.
Follows district procedures for equipment handling, software installation, and data security.
Maintains confidentiality of student and staff information.
Operates district vehicles or carts when moving equipment.
- Performs other duties as assigned by the Director of Technology.
High School Diploma required; Associate degree or technical certification preferred.
Experience in technology support, repair, or a related field preferred.
Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
Ability to communicate technical information clearly to non-technical users.
Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks.
Knowledge of computer hardware, software, peripherals, and basic networking.
Must hold a valid driver's license.
Ability to lift, move, or carry equipment up to 50 pounds.
Ability to climb ladders, crawl under desks, and work in various physical positions.
Ability to stand, walk, bend, and reach regularly.
District classrooms, offices, and technology workspaces.
Frequent travel between buildings.
Fast-paced environment with frequent interruptions.
