POSITION SUMMARY
Under the general supervision of the Director of Nursing. As a Laboratory Technician, you will be an integral part of the healthcare team, responsible for performing a variety of laboratory procedures to assist in the diagnosis, treatment, and monitoring of patients.

PRIMARY ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Specimen Collection: Receiving, accessing and processing various types of patient
specimens, including blood, urine, and tissue samples, according to established protocols and safety standards.
- Testing Procedures: Performing a wide range of laboratory tests using automated equipment, analytical instruments, and manual techniques.
- Quality Control: Conducting quality control procedures to ensure the accuracy, precision, and reliability of laboratory test results. Recognizing and troubleshooting technical issues, instrument malfunctions, or deviations from expected outcomes.
- Data Analysis: Analyzing test results, interpreting findings, and accurately documenting findings in laboratory information systems and electronic medical records. Reporting abnormal or critical results to healthcare providers promptly and following established protocols.
- Equipment Maintenance: Maintaining laboratory equipment, instruments, and analytical systems by performing routine maintenance, calibration, and troubleshooting activities. Following manufacturer's guidelines and regulatory requirements for equipment operation and maintenance.
- Safety and Compliance: Adhering to laboratory safety protocols, including proper handling and disposal of biohazardous materials, chemical reagents, and sharps. Ensuring compliance with regulatory agencies such as CLIA, and OSHA.
- Inventory Management: Monitoring and maintaining adequate levels of laboratory supplies, reagents, and consumables. Ordering supplies as needed, tracking inventory usage, and assisting with inventory control processes.
- Documentation and Reporting: Maintaining accurate records of laboratory tests, procedures, and results. Ensuring Lab inbox and Interface Reconciliation is completed in ECW on a daily basis. Ensure Lab Corps accounts and patient resolve issues are handled on a weekly basis.
- Collaboration and Communication: Collaborating with other healthcare professionals, including physicians, nurses, and patients, to ensure effective patient care and communication of laboratory findings. Providing support and assistance to colleagues as needed.
Education
- High School Diploma/GED is required.
- Current BLS Certification
- Current Class C driver's license.
Experience
- Previous medical office experience is highly preferred.
- Proficiency in English written and oral communication preferred, Spanish and other languages are desirable.
Physical/Environmental
- Work may involve exposure to unusual elements such as extreme temperatures, unpleasant odor and/or loud noises.
- Moderate physical activity. Requires handling average-weight objects up to 15-20 pounds.
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to maintain sufficient visual acuity to read, and write.
- Position requires sufficient hearing level to effectively communicate with people directly or by telephone.
- Will work with blood or blood-borne pathogens and will require OSHA training.
- Work environment involves exposure to potentially dangerous materials and situations that require following extensive safety precautions and may include the use of protective equipment.
- Willingness to travel.
