About

About the Role:

We are working with a well-established industrial organization that designs, builds, and supports automation-driven systems across manufacturing, industrial equipment, and engineered products. The team values hands-on engineering, continuous improvement, and practical problem-solving in real production environments.

This Controls Engineer role is suited for engineers who enjoy working across the full lifecycle of automation systems, from design and development through commissioning, troubleshooting, and optimization. The position is open to Controls Engineers with experience across a variety of PLC platforms, HMIs, motion systems, robotics, and industrial networks.

The ideal candidate brings a strong foundation in control systems and industrial automation, but is not limited to a specific vendor ecosystem.

Role Overview:

The Controls Engineer will be responsible for designing, implementing, and supporting control systems used in automated equipment and manufacturing environments. This role involves close collaboration with mechanical, electrical, manufacturing, and software teams to deliver reliable, scalable automation solutions.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Design, develop, and implement industrial control systems for automated machinery and processes
  • Program, configure, and troubleshoot PLCs across one or more major platforms such as Rockwell Automation, Siemens, Beckhoff, Schneider Electric, Omron, Mitsubishi, or similar
  • Develop and support HMI and SCADA applications using platforms such as FactoryTalk View, WinCC, Ignition, Wonderware, or equivalent
  • Perform hands-on troubleshooting of electrical and controls systems to support production, commissioning, and uptime
  • Specify and integrate automation hardware including PLCs, HMIs, VFDs, servos, sensors, safety devices, vision systems, and industrial networks
  • Collaborate cross-functionally to integrate controls with mechanical systems, robotics, vision, and higher-level software systems
  • Create and maintain technical documentation including control schematics, wiring diagrams, panel layouts, I/O lists, and software documentation
  • Support system testing, commissioning, validation, and ongoing optimization
  • Ensure control systems meet applicable safety standards, electrical codes, and industry best practices
