PART TIME WORKING AT SATELITTE CLINIC BASED ON PROVIDERS AVAILABILITY IDEALLY HAVING 1-2 DAYS A WEEK WORKING OFFICE HOURS
Position Summary
The Nurse Practitioner (NP), also referred to as an Advanced Practice Provider (APP), provides specialized hepatology care to patients with acute and chronic liver diseases. The NP will deliver comprehensive specialty care services in collaboration with hepatologists and interdisciplinary healthcare teams, in accordance with applicable laws, regulations, and organizational policies.
Key Responsibilities
Specialty Clinical Care – Hepatology
- Perform comprehensive patient assessments focused on liver-related conditions, including chronic liver disease, cirrhosis, viral hepatitis, fatty liver disease, and liver-related complications.
- Obtain detailed medical histories, perform focused physical examinations, and order and interpret diagnostic tests, including laboratory studies and imaging related to hepatology care.
- Diagnose and manage hepatology conditions and develop individualized treatment and monitoring plans.
- Prescribe medications and manage ongoing therapies related to liver disease in accordance with scope of practice
- Monitor disease progression, medication response, and treatment adherence.
- Provide patient education regarding liver health, disease management, lifestyle modifications, and preventive care.
- Refer Procedures to Local Hospital
Documentation and Regulatory Compliance
- Complete and submit all patient care documentation within forty-eight (48) hours of each patient encounter.
- Ensure medical records meet all regulatory, licensure, payer, and billing requirements for specialty hepatology services.
- Comply with all federal, state, and local healthcare laws and regulations, including HIPAA and patient privacy requirements.
- Adhere to organizational policies, clinical protocols, quality assurance standards, and third-party payer requirements, including prior authorization and documentation standards.
Collaboration and Care Coordination
- Collaborate closely with hepatologists, gastroenterologists, primary care providers, nurses, and other specialists to ensure coordinated specialty care.
- Facilitate referrals, follow-ups, and continuity of care across settings.
Leadership and Professional Practice
- Provide clinical leadership and supervision to nursing and clinical staff as appropriate.
- Contribute to quality improvement initiatives related to hepatology outcomes and patient satisfaction.
- Maintain high standards of professionalism, ethical conduct, and accountability.
Operational Expectations
- Work on days assigned from office hours of 8am to 5pm
- Maintain an average patient volume of twenty (20) patients per clinic day.
- Provide care at designated practice locations as outlined by the employer.
- Follow established clinical workflows, scheduling structures, and operational protocols at all times.
- Perform only duties within the scope of the NP's licensure and scope of practice of Hepatology.
Qualifications
Required
- Active, unrestricted Nurse Practitioner license in the State of Arizona.
- Current national Nurse Practitioner certification from an accredited certifying body.
- Ability to deliver specialty hepatology care in compliance with regulatory and clinical standards or willingness to grow in knowledge of hepatology care
- Strong communication, collaboration, and patient education skills.
