What You Will Contribute:

As an EHS Specialist, you will be responsible for administering and supporting all aspects of Badger Meter's Environmental, Health, and Safety programs across our Racine facilities. You will help develop and maintain compliance strategies aligned with regulatory requirements and company standards, provide technical expertise to operations teams, and ensure employees are trained, informed, and equipped to work safely every day.

You will provide technical assistance to operations directors, department supervisors and employees. You will provide and manage training as well as training documentation.

Job Duties:

  • Support the implementation, administration, and continuous improvement of all Badger Meter EHS policies, processes and programs, ensuring compliance and adherence to all regulatory standards.
  • Plan and conduct safety and environmental evaluations/inspections of the facility, working with site leadership to ensure all key EHS operational controls are in place and EHS related action items are resolved on a timely basis.
  • Advise employees on safe practices and potential hazards and participate in the development of strategies, policies and procedures to ensure a safe and healthy environment (fire prevention, employee evacuation, emergency response, ergonomic review, weather emergency programs, etc).
  • Develop and compile monthly EHS metrics including illness and injury metrics and prepare reports for submission to supervisors, and/or managers, which identify potential hazards and provide recommendations for correction and compliance.
  • Respond to requests for assistance from managers, department supervisors, and employees concerning environmental and/or safety issues by providing immediate support and coordinate response efforts to urgent safety or environmental situations.
  • Participate in or lead the investigation of accidents and/or incidents such as personal injury, property damage and other EHS related concerns and coordinate workers compensation including claim reporting and monitoring and return to work plans.
  • Up to 10% travel required

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in o ccupational safety, environmental studies, health and safety, or safety management or a related field required; significant experience may be considered in lieu of a degree
  • 3+ years of experience in environmental/health/safety or a related field desired

Qualifications:

  • Basic k nowledge in safety rules and regulations (OSHA, NIOSH, ACGIH, EPA, DOT, WDNR, and other applicable federal, state, and local regulations) required
  • Ability to identify hazards and create solutions for eliminating them required

Working Conditions:

  • Work is performed in a manufacturing/office environment and requires the ability to operate standard office equipment
  • Must be able to stand or walk for prolonged periods of time
