General Description

Fostering Hope provides quality care to adults with developmental disabilities at multiple locations (residential and commercial).

Recruits will be self-motivated and dependable. We are looking for people who can work well with others, and on their own when necessary. They must possess the ability to work alongside and interact with individuals with special needs on a consistent basis.

We require at least 3 months experience working with people who are developmentally disabled.

Work Experience Requirements

  • Possess a valid Arizona Driver's License
  • Clean 39-month driving record.
  • Possess/be able to obtain an Arizona Level One Fingerprint Clearance Card without restrictions.
  • Article 9 training
  • Certification in Adult/Child/Infant CPR and First Aid
  • Complete a criminal history affidavit and receive clearance from the Department of Economic Security central registry/OIG/System for award management
  • At least 3 months' experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities.
  • Good driving record and valid Arizona Driver's License

Education Requirements

  • Minimum High School Diploma or GED

Job Specifications

The job function is to safely transport our developmentally disabled members to and from Fostering Hope's job and day programs.

  • Drivers are responsible for the safe and efficient operation of Fostering Hope's vehicles. This includes adhering to traffic laws, established routes and schedules and ensuring the safety of passengers and pedestrians.
  • Drivers will assist members in boarding and exiting the vehicle. They may help load and secure mobility aids.
  • Drivers must follow established schedules and routes to ensure that members reach their destinations on time. This includes efficiently managing time and adapting to traffic or unexpected situations.
  • Willingness/ability to support individuals with challenging behavior.
  • Reflects agency policy in all interactions with members. Has a positive, caring behavior in interactions with members and staff.
  • Has knowledge of and follows agency safety procedures and disaster plans.
  • Must be able to work cooperatively with other staff and have positive interactions with members.
  • Ability to remain calm in stressful driving situations (e.g., at rush hour)
  • Maintain accurate records, such as logs of driving hours, mileage, and fuel consumption. This information is required for regulatory compliance and operational purposes.
  • Satisfactory oral and written communication, math, and computer skills.
  • Be a positive role model for members.
  • Cell phone and data plan are required for this position.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
