About

Voices of Tomorrow is seeking a culturally grounded Applied Behavioral Specialist to provide direct behavioral and social-emotional support services to young children with developmental delays, behavioral challenges, and special needs. This role centers trauma-informed, strengths-based, and culturally responsive practices and partners closely with families, educators, and multidisciplinary teams.

This position requires board certification in behavior analysis and active licensure through the Washington State Department of Health.

Responsibilities:

Direct Child & Family Behavioral Support

  • Provide direct behavioral intervention to children in classrooms, homes, and community-based early learning environments
  • Conduct behavioral observations and contribute to functional behavior assessments (FBA-informed)
  • Develop, implement, and monitor individualized behavior support and intervention plans
  • Support emotional regulation, communication, adaptive skills, and positive peer interactions
  • Model evidence-informed strategies such as visual supports, routines, co-regulation, and positive reinforcement

Family Coaching & Caregiver Partnership

  • Coach caregivers using reflective, trauma-informed, and culturally aligned approaches
  • Provide education on child development, behavior support strategies, and trauma-responsive caregiving
  • Conduct home and classroom visits to support consistency across environments
  • Provide warm handoffs and referrals to culturally and linguistically appropriate services

Collaboration & Multidisciplinary Care

  • Participate in Multidisciplinary Team (MDT) meetings and coordinated care planning
  • Collaborate with teachers, health staff, special education coordinators, and external providers
  • Support transitions into early learning programs, special education services, or behavioral health supports

Documentation, Data & Compliance

  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation of services, observations, and progress notes
  • Track child progress using observation data and outcome measures
  • Ensure compliance with program, funder, and regulatory requirements
  • Maintain records in ELMS and other required systems

Program & Capacity Building

  • Provide consultation and training support to early learning staff and family childcare providers
  • Support implementation of trauma-informed and Conscious Discipline-aligned practices
  • Uphold organizational values, ethical standards, and child welfare responsibilities
  • Perform other related duties as assigned
  • Other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Applied Behavior Analysis, Psychology, Behavioral Health, Human Development, Social Work, Early Childhood Education, or a closely related field
  • Board certification as a BCaBA or BCBA (active and in good standing)
  • Active licensure with the Washington State Department of Health
  • Experience providing direct behavioral intervention to young children with special needs
  • Experience working with immigrant, refugee, and/or low-income families
  • Knowledge of trauma-informed, strengths-based, and culturally responsive practices
  • Strong documentation, observation, and communication skills
  • Ability to pass criminal background check, TB test, and required health screenings
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs occasionally and actively engage with young children

Desired QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bilingual or multilingual in Somali, Amharic, Oromo, Tigrinya, Swahili, Arabic, and or spanish
  • Experience in early learning, ECEAP, Head Start, or inclusive preschool settings
  • Experience collaborating with IEPs, IFSPs, or special education teams

Responsibilities

'Voices of Tomorrow' is looking for an Applied Behavioral Specialist who will:

  • Develop and implement individualized behavioral intervention plans based on evidence-based practices.
  • Conduct assessments and collect data to monitor progress.
  • Collaborate with families, educators, and healthcare professionals to ensure comprehensive support.
  • Provide direct therapy and support to children with autism and other developmental disabilities.
  • Maintain accurate medical documentation and records in compliance with privacy standards.
  • Educate families and staff on behavioral strategies and intervention techniques.
  • Participate in team meetings to review progress and adjust plans as needed.
  • Qualifications

'The ideal candidate will possess:

  • Proven experience in behavioral therapy, especially applied behavior analysis.
  • Strong background working with children, particularly those with autism or developmental disabilities.
  • Knowledge of data collection methods and diagnostic evaluation.
  • Excellent communication skills for working collaboratively with families and professionals.
  • Familiarity with HIPAA regulations is preferred but not mandatory.
  • Certification or training in applied behavior analysis is highly desirable.

Pay: $ $36.00 per hour
