Field Technician

POSITION SUMMARY
Technician who can perform most residential and small business installations. Capable of attic and wall chases, cable runs, residential ONT troubleshooting, basic commercial installations, basic EMT work, voice cutovers, and proficient OTDR troubleshooting.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

1. Develop installation plans with customers, keeping them informed of all steps and obtaining agreement

2. Independently conduct residential installations and basic small business installations, including:

o Splice NID connections

o Setup and troubleshoot ONTs

o Use OTDR for basic testing

o Perform attic and wall chases

o Residential ONT setup and troubleshooting

o Voice cutovers

o Basic EMT work

o Proficiently troubleshooting OTDR

1. Assist customers in device connections

2. Document time worked accurately and manage own inventory

3. Maintain cleanliness and organization of work vehicle

4. Driving duties include conveying materials, equipment, and staff to and from work sites

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

· Ability to maintain a professional demeanor

· Ability to evaluate situations and adjust to changing priorities

· Mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn technical skills

· Ability to use hand tools, work on ladders, and work in attics and crawlspaces

· Ability to perform technical diagnostics

QUALIFICATIONS

· Candidate must be willing to reside near or commute to a Joink office (Currently within Illinois: Taylorville, Hillsboro; Indiana: Terre Haute)

· Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record

· 1+ year residential/small business installation experience or equivalent education.

WORKING ENVIRONMENT

· 40 hours per week with mandatory overtime on Fridays

· Voluntary Saturdays

· Mix of indoor and outdoor work, year-round, in all weather conditions

· Must be able to work overtime with and without notice.

· Occasional travel for training and professional development

· Must be willing to travel to other Joink regions 10-15% of the time to complete work when needed, with occasional overnight stays.
