About

Job Purpose:
The school-based speech language pathologist is responsible for providing evaluation, assessment, and treatment services for students with communication disorders, including language, articulation, fluency, and voice disorders. The speech language pathologist will work with students individually and in small groups, as well as collaborate with teachers and other school staff to support the students' communication skills and overall academic success.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct evaluations and assessments to determine the nature and extent of students' communication disorders
  • Develop and implement individualized treatment plans for students with communication disorders
  • Provide direct therapy to students with communication disorders, including language, articulation, fluency, and voice disorders
  • Collaborate with teachers and other school staff to support the communication skills of students with communication disorders in the classroom and other academic settings
  • Communicate with parents and guardians to provide information about students' progress and to involve them in the treatment process
  • Participate in professional development activities to stay current in the field of speech language pathology
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of students' evaluations, assessments, treatment plans, and progress

Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in speech language pathology
  • State license in speech language pathology
  • Experience working with children and adolescents in a school setting preferred
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
