Job Summary
The Residential Electrical Foreman is a working supervisor responsible leading a team of electricians and apprentices to complete high-end luxury residential electrical projects. You will oversee everything from initial rough-ins to final trim-outs in custom homes, multi-family units, or large-scale renovations, while coordinating all scheduling and project scope of work will all stakeholders. The goal is to ensure all work is completed safely, ahead of schedule, within budget and in strict accordance with the National Electrical Code (NEC) and local building regulations with adherence to quality craftsmanship standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Team Leadership: Supervise, schedule, and coordinate the daily activities of electricians and apprentices.
- Precision Finishing: Oversee the installation of high-end fixtures (chandeliers, art lighting, recessed linear systems) where zero-margin for error on alignment or wall damage is expected.
- Smart Home Integration: Coordinate pre-wiring and final termination for complex home automation systems, including Lutron/Control4, automated shades, and integrated AV racks.
- Architectural Liaison: Collaborate closely with architects and interior designers to translate high-level vision into functional circuitry without compromising design.
- Aesthetic Quality Control: Perform final walk-throughs to ensure all plates are perfectly level, screw heads are oriented uniformly, and no smudges or scratches remain on custom finishes.
- Technical Planning: Read and interpret blueprints, circuit diagrams, and technical drawings to plan wiring layouts and panel locations.
- Hands-on Installation: Perform and oversee the installation of electrical systems, including lighting, service upgrades, smart home integrations, and security systems.
- Safety Compliance: Enforce all OSHA and company safety standards, conducting regular on-site inspections and safety meetings.
- Coordination: Liaise with homeowners, general contractors, architects, and city inspectors to resolve field issues and pass inspections.
- Material Management: Requisition necessary materials and tools, tracking inventory to prevent project delays.
Required Qualifications
- Licensing: Valid Journeyman or Residential Wireman license preferred.
- Experience: Minimum of 5 years of residential electrical experience, with at least 2 years in a leadership or foreman role on custom luxury home projects.
- Quality Control: Inspect completed work for quality standards and adherence to code before signing off on projects.
- Expert Knowledge: Deep understanding of residential codes, NEC standards, and local municipal regulations.
Preferred Skills
- Troubleshooting: Advanced ability to diagnose complex electrical failures quickly.
- Communication: Exceptional "soft skills" and professionalism for direct interaction with internal staff, clients and high-profile design teams.
- Physical Ability: Capable of lifting 50–70 lbs, climbing ladders, and working in confined spaces like attics or crawlspaces.
- Drivers License: Valid driver's license with a clean driving record (essential for travel between worksites).
- Change Order Management: Rapidly adjust daily schedules and manpower when designers or owners request last-minute modifications to floor plans or lighting layouts.
- Daily Status Reporting: Use project management apps to provide detailed daily logs and photo documentation to the General Superintendent or client.
