About

Salary is 140k to 160k

We are seeking a highly hands-on Senior Infrastructure Engineer who also provides technical leadership and oversight for our infrastructure environment. This role is best suited for someone who spends the majority of their time engineering, troubleshooting, and improving systems, while also guiding a small team and influencing infrastructure direction through expertise rather than pure people management.

Key Responsibilities

  • Act as the primary technical lead for infrastructure operations, remaining deeply hands-on across systems, networking, cloud, and identity platforms.
  • Design, build, administer, and troubleshoot Windows Server environments, Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS, and DHCP.
  • Engineer and support enterprise networking solutions including LAN/WAN, VPN, firewalls, switching, wireless infrastructure, and network segmentation.
  • Architect, manage, and optimize virtualization platforms such as VMware or Hyper-V, including capacity planning and performance tuning.
  • Build, operate, and secure cloud environments across AWS, Azure/Microsoft Entra, and Microsoft 365, with a focus on reliability and scalability.
  • Implement and maintain backup, recovery, and business continuity solutions using Rubrik or similar platforms.
  • Engineer identity and access management solutions using Okta and/or Azure AD (Entra), including SSO, MFA, conditional access, and lifecycle automation.
  • Troubleshoot complex, escalated infrastructure issues and lead root-cause analysis to prevent recurrence.
  • Provide technical direction, code/configuration reviews, and mentoring to other infrastructure team members.
  • Collaborate with security, application, and business teams to ensure infrastructure aligns with operational and security requirements.

What You Bring

  • Strong hands-on experience as a senior infrastructure or systems engineer.
  • Deep technical expertise across Windows infrastructure, networking, virtualization, cloud platforms, and identity management.
  • Experience serving as a technical lead or senior engineer, guiding others through expertise rather than formal management.
  • A problem-solving mindset with strong ownership of systems and outcomes.
  • Ability to communicate technical decisions clearly to both engineers and stakeholders.
  • Charlotte, North Carolina, United States
