ProFarm Group (PFG) is a subsidiary of Bioceres Crop Solutions, a global provider of biologically derived fertilizers, inoculants, crop traits, adjuvants, biostimulants and pesticides, serving the ever-expanding agricultural markets. PFG focuses on discovering, developing, and marketing nature-derived biostimulants, as well as pest management products from microbes and plant extracts for the effective control of invertebrate pests, weeds, and plant diseases. 

PFG is currently looking for an Assistant/Associate Scientist, Quality Control and Manufacturing Support to join our Quality Team in Bangor, Michigan. This position performs material and product testing, maintains all records generated or utilized by their department, and is responsible for microbiological analytical support of production and processing.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:

· Perform raw material and finished product sampling and testing assuring adequate, appropriate, and complete documentation and disposition

· Perform microbiological testing and fermentation to support production

· Prepare a variety of medium types and laboratory reagents

· Perform a variety of physical chemistry and wet lab analyses

· Assist in the investigation of corrective actions and nonconforming materials

· Maintain applicable product retains

· Calibrate and maintain test stations and equipment

· Monitor levels and order laboratory chemicals and materials

· Perform routine administrative tasks such as maintaining sample databases, reporting results, spreadsheet development, internal communications, etc.

· Maintain awareness of GMP guidelines, safety requirements, and environmental conditions that can impact product quality

· Periodic weekend work and swing/night shifts may be required

OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:

· Comply with all safety policies, practices and procedures, and report all unsafe activities to appropriate supervisor

· Perform general department maintenance

· Participate in efforts to achieve departmental and company goals

· Provide leadership to others through example and sharing of knowledge and skill

· Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS:

· Education and Experience

An M.S. in a Chemical or Biological discipline;

Or a BS in a Chemical or Biological discipline plus two years of experience is required for this position.

Requires experience working in a regulated laboratory setting.

· Language Skills

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific journals, technical procedures, and governmental regulations. Ability to write detailed reports, business correspondence, and procedures.

Effectively present information and respond to questions from managers and peers.

· Mathematical Skills

Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as area, length, and volume. Ability to calculate and apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and statistical functions to practical situations.

· Reasoning Ability

Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Able to interpret a variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and ability to deal with nonverbal symbolism such as graphs, formulas and scientific equations.

· Computer Operations

Possess intermediate personal computer skills including electronic mail, routine database activity, word processing, spreadsheets, and graphics.

· Planning/Organization

Performs multiple and detailed procedures and tasks that require independent planning and judgement. Has a role in decision making. Receives no instruction on daily tasks and minimal instructions on new assignments.

The Assistant/Associate Scientist, Quality Control and Manufacturing Support must have manual dexterity sufficient to handle items and perceive attributes of objects, and be able to perform light physical, non-strenuous daily activities of a productive/technical nature. Must be able to function in working conditions that are adequately lighted, moderately heated or air-conditioned, and in an indoor office, laboratory, and production setting. In the course of daily activities, assistants may be occasionally required to lift up to 30 pounds, are frequently exposed to air contamination such as disagreeable odors and may be exposed to toxic or caustic substances.
