Job Description

The Carpentry Project Manager will be responsible for managing carpentry work from pre-construction through project close-out. This role requires hands-on experience with material take-offs, purchasing, logistics, manpower planning, and field coordination to ensure carpentry crews are productive and supported.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage self-performed carpentry work on commercial and public-sector projects

  • Oversee scopes including:

  • Metal stud framing

  • Drywall coordination

  • ACT ceilings

  • Doors, frames, and hardware

  • Casework, millwork, and finish carpentry

  • Perform detailed material take-offs

  • Handle material purchasing, buy-outs, and vendor coordination

  • Track lead times and schedule material deliveries to support field crews

  • Coordinate jobsite logistics, staging, and storage

  • Manage equipment logistics (lifts, scaffolding, carts, tools, temporary protection)

  • Think ahead of the field to prevent downtime and delays

  • Develop carpentry-focused schedules and manpower plans

  • Coordinate daily and weekly plans with superintendents and foremen

  • Review drawings and specifications for constructability and scope clarity

  • Manage RFIs, submittals, shop drawings, change orders, and T&M work related to carpentry

  • Track labor productivity, installed quantities, and cost impacts

  • Perform site walks and quality control inspections

Qualifications

  • 7+ years of experience as a Project Manager managing carpentry work

  • Commercial and/or public-works construction experience required

  • Experience managing self-performed carpentry labor

  • Strong knowledge of carpentry materials, sequencing, and field operations

  • Proven experience with material procurement and construction logistics

  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications

  • Organized, proactive, and field-oriented mindset

  • Ability to manage multiple active projects

General PM experience without carpentry PM experience is not sufficient for this role

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: From $65,000.00 per year
