JOB PURPOSE or JOB SUMMARY:

The CNC Machine Operator I is required to secure work pieces onto holding fixtures to meet quality standards within established timelines.

Contributes to a positive working culture, builds strong relationships, and lives out the values of integrity, collaboration, and accountability.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Prioritizes and completes work for the shift. Follows daily work schedule as established by the CNC Mill Machinist Lead and/or Director of Operations. Verifies work is completed within the appropriate timeframe and quality requirements.
  • Focuses on continuous improvement in the areas of machining methods and processes. Recommends changes when appropriate.
  • Confers with the Director of Operations, CNC Mill Machinist Lead and employees from other departments to confirm status of work and timelines.
  • Performs all essential machining operations; interprets blueprints and related technical data.
  • Operates CNC machinery, including drilling, milling, reaming, boring and threading.
  • Assists Set-up Machinist in selecting and installing proper tooling; mounts, aligns and secures work pieces on holding fixtures; and maintains and changes work holding equipment.
  • Assists Set-up Machinist with first piece, in process and last piece inspections to obtain training and experience in the inspection process.
  • Assists Maintenance Technician in daily Preventive Maintenance on CNC Machinery.
  • Ensures machine shop is clean and orderly.
  • Maintains regular and predictable attendance.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

  • At least one-year related experience in a machining environment and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Basic computer skills
