The City of Kentwood Parks and Recreation Department is seeking a motivated, organized, and community-focused Sports Program Coordinator to lead and grow our youth and adult sports programming.

This role is ideal for someone who is passionate about recreation, enjoys developing programs that bring people together, and thrives in a fast-paced, hands-on environment. • Managing registrations, schedules, staffing, and equipment needs
  • Developing, monitoring, and reporting program budgets and financial activity
  • Handling program-related transactions, refunds, and cancellations
  • Measuring program success through attendance data, retention, and participant feedback
  • Identifying and resolving operational challenges to maintain program quality
Staff Supervision & Leadership
  • Hiring, onboarding, training, and supervising coaches, instructors, seasonal staff, and volunteers
  • Providing ongoing support, guidance, and performance evaluation
Customer Service & Administration
  • Serving as a point of contact for participants, parents, coaches, and community members
  • Responding to inquiries and concerns within one business day
  • Maintaining accurate program records, reports, and inventory
Professional Collaboration
  • Promoting a welcoming, inclusive, and respectful environment
  • Actively contributing ideas to improve programs and service delivery

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in sports management, recreation management, parks administration, physical education, or a related field
  • Two years of professional experience in recreation programming or facility/community center supervision
  • Or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience
  • Valid Michigan Driver's License
  • CPR, AED, and First Aid certification (or ability to obtain within six months of hire)
