This is a high-impact analytical role at the intersection of data, policy and national infrastructure. You will work with operational, regulatory and market datasets to produce analysis that directly informs: Policy positions and consultation responses Strategic narratives used with government, regulators and the media Cross-industry thinking on the future role of energy networks The role is ideal for someone who wants real influence, not just technical output. Your work will be used by senior leaders and external stakeholders to shape decisions with long-term consequences. We are looking for a Data Analyst to turn complex energy-sector datasets and reports into actionable insights that support informed decision-making. You will analyse trends and risks, produce analytical studies, and deliver small projects that inform strategic decisions across the energy sector. You will work with regulatory, operational and market datasets to develop robust, repeatable analysis that informs policy positions, investment narratives and public debate. You will also support member collaboration groups, helping to coordinate meetings, document discussions, and track progress on key actions. You will work in the FEN Research and Innovation team, reporting to the Head of Research and Innovation, while collaborating closely with our Policy and Communications teams. Appointment level will depend on skills and experience, with Senior Analysts leading projects, framing questions, and engaging directly with members and policy makers. Key Responsibilities
Analyse datasets and industry reports to identify trends, patterns, and risks. Lead focused investigations and small-scale research projects on topics relevant to the energy sector and energy networks. Translate complex data into clear, practical insights and recommendations. Support to FEN’s policy, regulatory and other initiatives, working collaboratively with our members and the rest of the FEN team. Support member collaboration groups: schedule meetings, prepare agendas, document discussions, and track actions. Present findings to technical and non-technical audiences with clarity and impact. Who You Are
You are curious, analytical, and enjoy turning data into insight that drives real-world decisions. Whether you’re starting your career in data analysis or already have energy-sector experience, you want to use your skills to support strategic decision-making and contribute to a fair, low-carbon energy transition. What You Bring:
Degree in a relevant field or equivalent practical experience. Interest in energy networks and a passion for the low-carbon transition. Strong analytical skills and experience working with data (academic, professional, or internship), ideally with a background in energy sector analysis Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel. Familiarity with Power BI, Python, GIS software is a plus. Ability to create clear, insightful visualisations and reports. Excellent communication and visualisation skills. Organised, collaborative, and able to manage multiple priorities independently. What we offer
