Full time Benefits Eligible: Yes Hours Per Week: 40 Schedule Details/Additional Information: Community Health - Mobile Health Medical Assistant will be essential to the impact of our team in delivering high quality care that supports community members and patients through a variety of community health activities.

Medical Assistant (Mobile Unit) will be required to work a flexible schedule, within reason, as it meets the community needs this includes nights and weekend as needed during Peak seasons. Clinic times include up to 2 weekends per month, and up to 1 later evening shift per week. Schedule will be provided in advance. Teammates are given flexible schedule day off for weekend events. Medical Assistant will also support the Mobile Unit Operations that includes driving passenger van to and from events across Northern IL region outside including up to IL-Wisconsin border. Medical Assistants will also be given opportunity to engage in community health projects and special projects allowing teammate to work on higher level skills. Medical Assistant may also be required to support other Mobile Health Units as needed depending on scheduling and staffing needs. Medical Assistants will also support enrollment and tracking of patient care data. Medical Assistant will also support Flu & Covid Vaccine events, acting as back up Vaccine Coordinator. Supports with end of year reporting. Medical Assistant will share some of these duties:

1.) Greets and accurately registers patients in EMR system verifying essential billing and demographic information. 2.) Coordinates scheduling of patient appointments (phone and in-person requests) accurately and efficiently. 3.) Answers multiple incoming telephone lines, accurately determining the appropriate recipient of the call or message and referring them promptly and appropriately. 4.) Distributes communications accurately, based on practice protocol. Includes pagers, faxes, emails. 5.) Resolves a variety of patient questions, including HMO referrals, billing and queries about services and test results; refers complex issues to practice manager or a clinical staff member, as appropriate. 6.) Schedules future appointments and requisitions, laboratory tests, radiology procedures and other special diagnostic tests as needed. May coordinate with appropriate sections of hospital admission and/or outpatient admissions and surgery. 7.) Notifies patient care area when patient has arrived and is ready to be seen. Attends to waiting patients in reception and ensures that they are seen in a timely manner or are promptly notified of unexpected delays. 8.) Accurately identifies type of insurance from card, understands different types of payers, and verifies eligibility if necessary. 9.) Performs other related duties as required. Billing Services: Ensures the collection of maximum possible fees at the time of service and accurate follow-up billing information on the patient and payer. 1.) Reviews encounter forms for accuracy and completeness, checks with physician for missing information. 2.) Enters patient charges into the EMR system according to established policies and procedures. 3.) Batches encounter forms and balances charges. Medical Record Services: Upholds standards of the practice and of the medical group for accurate and timely medical records. 1.) Ensures the availability of properly prepared patient medical records, daily schedules and related forms. Maintains medical record including loose filing and re-filing of charts daily. Pull and prepares charts for appointments. 2.) Maintains confidentiality around all patient information, both in front of each patient being treated and around other patients in the area. 3.) Releases information from records, only according to corporate policies and procedures. This position is eligible for a $2500 sign on bonus, payable after 90 days of hire (Internals not included) JOB SUMMARY: The Medical Assistant is a key member of the patient care team by supporting physicians and other clinicians in the delivery of high-quality health care to ambulatory patients. Medical Assistants are vital to the effective operations of a fast-paced medical practice. Medical Assistants help patients transition from the outside world into the provider's office. The Medical Assistant performs a variety of important tasks to promote optimal health for our patients, including:

Assist physicians and other clinicians with important clinical duties including but not limited to taking medical histories and assisting in physical examinations Act as a liaison between patients, physicians and other clinicians. Measure patient's vital signs Prepare and administer vaccines/medications Document patient information into the electronic health record Collect specimens for testing REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Certified or Registered as a Medical Assistant through an Accredited Program (NHA, AAMA, AMT, NCCT) Graduate of a medical assistant program or at least two years of medical assistant within the last five years. Good communications skills. Experience using a keyboard and computers. Familiarity with equipment used in ambulatory care. Current AHA CPR certification. Ability to travel locally to multiple sites as needed. Ability to work in stressful conditions and difficult situations. Resilient and flexible in a changing environment. Ability to cooperate and work with others. Ability to make sound and timely decisions and ability to work rotating shifts any day of the week. Ability to perform lifting/transfer activities related to patients as needed, ability to stoop/bend. Ability to lift to 35 pounds without assistance. For patient lifts of over 35 pounds, or when patient is unable to assist with the lift, patient handling equipment is expected to be used, with at least one other associate, when available.
