SummaryThe Minneapolis Park & Recreation Board is accepting applications for an experienced Child Development Supervisor to assist in coordinating the implementation of Rec Plus school age care and other child development programs at Minneapolis Park & Recreation Board (MPRB) facilities to meet the diverse and identified needs in neighborhoods across Minneapolis. Supervise certified and seasonal part-time staff in the delivery of programs and services delivered through collaborative community partnerships that ensure high level programs and services in alignment with the mission, vision, values, goals and objectives of the MPRB; meet the needs and interests of diverse communities; and demonstrate best practices in child development.
This position will be required to work alternate work schedule including evenings, weekends, and holidays.

What You'll Do- Assist with oversight of the delivery of school-age care programs at neighborhood parks ensuring that standards are met and best practices are delivered.
- Interview, hire, train, supervise, evaluate and discipline certified and seasonal staff.
- Proactively facilitate parent/guardian individual and group meetings to address behavioral issues, special needs and program delivery and operation to ensure that the needs of the children are met.
- Assist in coordinating the delivery of inclusion services within Rec Plus with the Therapeutic Recreation and Inclusion Supervisor and the Child Development Manager.
- Assist with the oversite and requirements of the Department of Human Services requirements for childcare in regards to staff, space, records, training and onboarding.
- Assist with the web based citywide registration system including enrollment, reports, billing, training staff, data input and data collection.
- Strategically work variable hours, evenings and some holidays including working on-site during programs to support and evaluate program delivery.
- Assist MPRB in identifying and addressing the park and recreation needs of underserved and under-represented communities.
Need to Have:
- Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university with a major in Parks and Recreation Administration, Child Development, Youth Development, or a related field.
- Increasingly responsible experience in child development work: at least five (5) years.
- Experience supervising the work of others: at least three (3) years.
- Experience using youth development program evaluation tools: at least three (3) years.
- Increasingly responsible positions demonstrating program leadership: at least three (3) years.
- Demonstrated ability to develop and organize child development programs for multiple sites: at least three (3) years.
- An equivalent combination of education, training and experience may be considered.
- Valid driver's license.
Nice to Have:
- CPR and First Aid certifications required within three (3) months of hire.

- Knowledge of advanced contemporary practices in school age care and other child development programs.
- Knowledge of advanced contemporary knowledge of methods of working with children with different abilities and special needs.
- Knowledge of modern principles and best practices in the development and delivery of recreation programs.

- Knowledge of cultural competence in engaging with people from diverse communities.
- Outstanding customer service principles and practices and standards for a diverse customer base.

INSURANCE
Health insurance
Eligibility for benefits begins the first of the month following employment date. The MPRB offers eligible employees one plan design with a choice of six provider networks, allowing you to select the best option for you. Available plans include Medica Choice Passport, Medica Elect, VantagePlus with Medica, Park Nicollet First with Medica, Ridgeview Community Network powered by Medica, and Clear Value with Medica.
Enhanced mental health services
MPRB employees and their family members covered by MPRB's medical plan will each have access to up to 20 visits for mental health services covered at 100%. The enhanced mental health benefits will include the first 10 office visits, including evaluations and diagnostic and treatment services, and 10 intensive outpatient program visits per year per person with an in-network or out-of-network provider at no charge. After the 20 visits, regular plan benefits and coverage will apply.
Employees Assistance Program
All MPRB employees – whether covered or not by the MPRB's employee medical plan – have access to the employee assistance program, which provides confidential services to help employees and their family members deal with a wide array of issues. Employees can speak virtually or in-person with an EAP representative.
Dental insurance
The MPRB offers dental insurance through Delta Dental of Minnesota and pays 100% of the monthly premium for eligible employees.
Long-term disability (LTD) insurance
The MPRB offers long-term disability insurance, which helps to replace income for employees who are unable to work as a result of illness or injury, and pays 100% of the monthly premium for eligible employees.

Paid time off

Paid Parental Leave
