Solutions Design Engineer - Automated Material Handling - Hybrid - £55,000-£60,000 + Profit Related Bonus Samuel Frank is recruiting for a Solutions Design Engineer to join a small, growing automation business delivering automated material handling solutions across a wide range of customers and industries. This is a role for someone who enjoys variety and ownership. As a Solutions Design Engineer, you will not be tied to one product line or a narrow catalogue, you'll be encouraged to think commercially and technically, propose option and shape the best solution for each customer.

Key Aspects Taking customer requirements and turning them into fully costed, tailored solution designs Producing conceptual / system layouts using AutoCAD and 3D design tools Using your broad knowledge of automated material handling equipment to create workable, scalable designs Assessing third party equipment and integrated systems as part of your overall solution Supporting the sales process with proposal documentation, quotations and presentations Acting as the technical “go to” person, supporting customer meetings and solution discussions
Who the role suits Pro‑active, ideas led and confident offering suggestions rather than waiting for instruction Comfortable explaining technical solutions clearly to non‑technical stakeholders Commercially aware, able to balance technical design with cost, risk and deliverability Experienced in material handling automation, logistics automation, or a closely aligned sector Happy with occasional travel, but primarily operating in a hybrid structure
Key Skills / Experience AutoCAD for system layouts and concept development Exposure to 3D design tools (SketchUp, Demo3D or similar) Able to articulate technical solutions clearly to a non‑technical audience
