This full-time position is an exciting opportunity for a motivated and detail-oriented designer to work with a Best-in-Class Haworth contract furniture dealership, supporting projects that range from single-office refreshes to fully furnished, large-scale environments. About the Role

Established in 1981, Interphase Interiors is a family-owned company serving clients across Michigan—from local organizations to some of the state's largest employers. As an Interior Designer, you will provide comprehensive design services throughout all phases of a project, working closely with sales, project management, order entry, and installation teams to deliver high-quality, client-focused solutions.

This role requires a strong balance of design creativity, technical accuracy, and client communication, with an emphasis on delivering well-coordinated, thoughtful workplace environments.

Key Responsibilities

Design & Client Engagement

  • Participate in client planning meetings and present design concepts, plans, and materials for review and approval
  • Conduct site visits, field measurements, and plan-to-site verification
  • Inventory existing furniture and produce accurate as-built drawings and specifications
  • Lead programming efforts by interviewing clients and end users, researching workplace needs, and analyzing space and furniture requirements
  • Develop block plans, space plans, and typicals; present solutions and obtain client approvals
  • Create and present color and finish boards aligned with client goals and brand standards
  • Produce final working and installation drawings; coordinate with architectural, construction, and engineering drawings
  • Develop detailed product specifications and prepare documentation for order entry using electronic specification tools
  • Manage design revisions and scope changes throughout the project lifecycle
  • Participate in field reviews and punch-list walkthroughs with project managers and installation teams

Project & Departmental Coordination

  • Estimate design hours and maintain accurate daily time tracking
  • Support the development and presentation of design proposals and contracts
  • Manage project schedules, internal budgets, client budgets, and overall design quality
  • Communicate proactively with clients and internal teams regarding project status and milestones
  • Prepare plotting, printing, and presentation materials for client and internal use

Installation & Internal Coordination

  • Lead or participate in pre-installation meetings with installation teams
  • Ensure accurate and complete transmittal of drawings, specifications, and project data to order entry, project management, and operations teams

Qualifications & Skills

  • Proficiency with CET software (or similar space planning software) is strongly preferred
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite is required
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills; frequent client interaction is expected
  • Exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines in a fast-paced environment

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $ $25.00 per hour
