Reports To: Division Manager
Job PurposeThe Estimator/Project Manager is responsible for acquiring targeted projects with high-quality customers and providing overall leadership, management, and direction from award through closeout. This role assumes full ownership and accountability for project success, including quality installation, customer satisfaction, safety, and delivering projects at or under budget.
Key Responsibilities Estimator ResponsibilitiesBusiness Development
- Participate in industry and customer events to promote the company and build new relationships
- Maintain and strengthen relationships with existing customers through consistent in-person meetings
- Create content for company marketing and social media (website blog, Facebook, LinkedIn, etc.)
- Review project bidding websites for upcoming opportunities
- Coordinate bid assignments with the Division Manager and other Estimator/PMs
- Support market strategies for Houston and San Antonio markets
Bidding & Work Acquisition
- Analyze drawings and project specifications
- Produce detailed quantity takeoffs
- Obtain and organize subcontractor quotes and confirm compliance with contract requirements
- Deliver clear, accurate proposals with scope notes, exclusions, and details—on time
- Review bid results with management when available
Pre-Construction (Award to Mobilization)
- Notify leadership and internal teams of project award
- Move project budget into JCPM and verify accuracy
- Review plans, specs, and contract documentation
- Confirm scope aligns with bid, contract amount is correct, and bid day requirements are properly referenced
- Coordinate required submittals (SOV, material submittals, COIs, badging, training, safety requirements, etc.)
- Issue purchase orders to subcontractors
- Attend or assign pre-job meetings
- Lead project kickoff and coordinate materials, equipment, scheduling, safety requirements, subcontractors, and testing requirements
Construction
- Meet with field crew on day one (as needed) to discuss plans, quantities, and safety concerns
- Manage change orders: pricing, submission, approval, and documentation
- Track costs, productivity, invoices, time logs, and daily reports
- Prepare and submit billing info (monthly or end of job) for management approval
- Support overdue A/R collections as needed
- Manage subcontractor performance and jobsite scheduling
Post-Construction
- Perform jobsite inspections for quality, cleanliness, and deficiencies
- Create punch lists or manage warranty work if needed
- Review job profitability reports and communicate findings with field personnel
