Electrical Project Manager / Construction Manager (Aviation)

The Role
McKnight International is seeking a senior-level Electrical Project Manager / Construction Manager (PM/CM) with 10+ years of experience to support aviation capital improvement programs at Philadelphia International Airport (PHL) .The ideal candidate will oversee the planning, coordination, execution, and delivery of complex electrical construction projects within an active airport environment. This role requires strong expertise in electrical systems, aviation infrastructure, stakeholder coordination, and regulatory compliance , with a focus on safety, schedule adherence, and cost control. This position is primarily on-site at PHL . While limited hybrid flexibility may be available depending on project phase and client approval, on-site presence is a core requirement .
Requirements
Leadership & Program Oversight
Lead electrical program deliverables for aviation projects with cross-functional coordination
Provide direction, goals, and accountability to project teams
Participate in weekly internal and client meetings
Develop and deliver recurring reports (schedule, cost, risk, performance)
Mentor junior staff and support continuous improvement
Project Planning & Execution
Define scope, objectives, milestones, and deliverables with airport stakeholders
Develop and manage project plans, schedules, and resource strategies
Budget & Cost Management
Develop and manage budgets for large-scale aviation electrical projects
Track costs, analyze variances, forecast trends, and implement corrective actions
Schedule Management
Develop, maintain, and analyze integrated master schedules
Coordinate sequencing with airport operations and phasing constraints
Electrical & Technical Oversight
Oversee electrical systems (power distribution, lighting, controls, life safety, low-voltage)
Ensure compliance with drawings, specifications, codes, and airport standards
Risk, Quality & Compliance
Identify risks and implement mitigation strategies
Support QA/QC processes and regulatory compliance (FAA, OSHA, environmental, local)
Stakeholder & Client Communication
Serve as primary liaison among airport authorities, designers, contractors, and clients
Prepare and present project status reports and executive briefings
Contract & Team Leadership
Support contract administration, change management, and claims resolution
Lead multidisciplinary teams and foster a safety-focused environment
Qualifications
10+ years managing complex, multi-phase capital construction programs
Aviation or transportation infrastructure experience required
Electrical construction experience in active facilities required
Experience on programs $500M+ preferred
Strong background in scheduling, cost control, forecasting, estimating, risk management
Experience with dashboards and performance metrics
Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Power BI, Primavera P6 or similar tools
Excellent communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills
Certifications (Preferred)
PMP, PE, CCM (CMAA), or project controls certifications
Equivalent experience considered in lieu of certifications
Education
Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Architecture, or related field (required)
Master's degree preferred
Physical Requirements
Ability to sit, stand, walk, drive for extended periods
Navigate active construction sites and wear required PPE
Schedule, Location & Eligibility
Full-time; primarily on-site at Philadelphia International Airport (PHL)
Additional hours may be required; limited hybrid not guaranteed
U.S. Citizen; must pass airport background checks and security clearances
Reliable transportation required; commuting expenses not reimbursed
Salary
$145,000–$185,000 annually (Philadelphia market); compensation based on experience and complies with applicable pay equity law
