Experienced Hardware Sales Associate

Job Overview

We are seeking an energetic, customer-focused Experienced Hardware Sales Associate to join our dynamic retail team. Ideal candidates include individuals with prior experience or retirement backgrounds in HVAC, electrical work, plumbing, construction, general contracting, or general maintenance. This role is well suited for those who enjoy sharing their hands-on expertise and assisting customers with DIY projects, ensuring they have the right products, guidance, and confidence to complete their projects correctly and safely.

The SS will be the face of our store, providing expert guidance on a wide range of hardware products, including electronics, tools, and accessories. Your enthusiasm for modern technology and excellent communication skills will help customers find the perfect solutions for their needs.

Responsibilities

• Assist customers in selecting hardware products by understanding their needs and offering tailored recommendations
• Conduct engaging product demonstrations to showcase features and benefits of various items
• Manage stock levels through merchandising, stocking shelves, and inventory organization to ensure product availability
• Operate POS (Point of Sale) systems accurately for transactions, including cash handling and processing payments
• Upsell complementary products and accessories to maximize sales opportunities
• Provide exceptional customer service by answering questions, offering technical advice, and maintaining a friendly attitude
• Maintain store presentation standards by organizing displays and ensuring products are well-stocked and appealing
• Help direct our customers to necessary items to fix, maintain, or complete personal DIY projects. Knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, electrical, lumbar/construction, etc. is needed.

Skills

• Strong knowledge of retail sales principles, including upselling and merchandising techniques
• Experience with modern POS systems and cash handling procedures
• Ability to perform basic math accurately for transactions and inventory management
• Excellent communication skills, including phone etiquette
• Demonstrated customer service skills with a focus on creating positive shopping experiences
• Familiarity with hardware/lumber store operations or retail environments is a plus
• Ability to conduct product demos confidently and educate customers about features and benefits
