Experienced Equipment Operator – Residential Sitework

Nxt Gen Excavating is a fast-growing excavation company built on pride, precision, and work ethic. We specialize in residential and commercial sitework, utilities, and grading. We don't hire seat fillers, we hire operators who take ownership of their work and want to grow into leadership roles.

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced equipment operator (minimum 2 years) with proven skid steer and mini-excavator experience. This position is primarily residential sitework, with occasional support on small commercial projects as needed.

This role is for someone who understands the work, operates efficiently, and is willing to contribute beyond just running a machine. We expect initiative, versatility, and accountability. This is not a training position. Consistent underperformance will not be tolerated.

What You'll Do

• Operate skid steers and mini to mid-size excavators efficiently and safely
• Assist the crew on the ground when needed
• Support residential sitework including grading, utilities, and prep work
• Help maintain jobsite pace, quality, and organization
• Produce daily logs and provide clear updates on work completed, progress, and any jobsite issues
• Learn higher-level sitework and leadership skills
• Grow into a leadership or foreman role as performance and reliability are proven

What We're Looking For

• Minimum of 2 years operating experience (skid steer, mini or mid-size excavators)
• Solid understanding of residential sitework and jobsite flow
• Efficient, controlled, and productive on equipment
• Willingness to jump in and help wherever needed—not just sit in the seat
• Self-starter mentality—you see what needs to be done and take action
• Long-term mindset with interest in growth and leadership
• CDL is a plus, but not required
• No drama, no excuses, no hand-holding
