GENERAL SUMMARY:
Under general supervision of the Bus Operations Shift Supervisor, provides first-line supervision of Airport Bus Operators and routine daily operational matters on assigned shift.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Responsible for leading during assigned shift for Bus Operations, including reviewing procedures and resolving problems with Airport Bus Operator staff, assigning transportation personnel and equipment, and providing first-line decisions on exceptions to standard operating procedures within delegated limits.
- Makes decisions on fleet status and substitutes operable equipment for malfunctioning buses/vehicles.
- Maintains log of events; receives and processes reports of problems involving inoperative equipment; delivers lost items to designated location.
- Trains, counsels, corrects, and supports performance evaluation of staff, and monitors employees' daily time and attendance on shift.
- Assists with special bus services requested by internal and external customers, and other approved reasons. Drives staff vehicles, and buses when required.
- Responds to the Air Operations Area (AOA) to support Irregular Operations, emergency response, and airline hardstand bus operations.
- Responds to customer complaints; resolves complaints to customer satisfaction or escalates complaint to the Bus Operations Supervisor where required.
- Receives briefings from preceding Bus Operations Shift Lead and briefs succeeding Lead regarding bus deployment, staffing, operational events, and unusual problems or situations.
- Monitors radio channels: coordinates bus service with Integrated Operations Center (IOC), Fleet Maintenance, Department of Public Safety, and other departments as required.
- Supervises and assists with completing daily bus and staff vehicle fueling and cleaning duties when required.
- Completes and/or maintains daily and monthly operational reports, and employee files.
- Ensures the proper execution of aircraft hardstand bus operations and maintains section compliance with Federal, State, Local regulations and DFW Board policies.
- Other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Two (2) years of experience in customer service.
- Possession of a Class A or Class B Commercial driver's license with a passenger (P) endorsement.
- Must pass a medical physical examination.
- Must maintain Department of Transportation (DOT) Medical Certificate.
- Must be able to lift 25 up to 50-pound bags or luggage while ascending or descending one step, repeatedly if needed.
- Must be able to lift 25- up to 50-pound bags or luggage vertically and horizontally from 10" up
- to 62", repeatedly if needed.
