What You'll Be Doing
We are seeking a senior professional to lead technical evaluations for upstream and midstream M&A advisory within our Energy & Natural Resources investment banking group. This role requires deep subject matter expertise across upstream, midstream, and energy services sub-sectors, combined with a proven track record of leading complex transactions. The successful candidate will serve as the primary technical authority for the group, driving client strategy, overseeing high-profile transaction execution, and contributing to the growth of our Energy practice.

What We're Looking For

  • Lead Stifel's oil and gas technical practice, overseeing all engineering, geological, and petrophysical workflows as a senior member of the Energy & Natural Resources investment banking team.
  • Act as a senior technical advisor to corporate boards, executive management teams, and private equity sponsors. Articulate complex asset-level value drivers, reserve risks, and upside potential to support M&A and capital markets decision-making.
  • Manage the full lifecycle of M&A transactions, recapitalizations, and capital raises from origination through closing. Ensure execution excellence, rigorous due diligence, and adherence to strict timelines.
  • Drive business development initiatives by leveraging technical expertise to identify transaction opportunities. Cultivate and maintain long-term relationships with key industry stakeholders.
  • Mentor and develop junior bankers and technical staff, fostering a collaborative, high-performance culture focused on technical precision and commercial acumen.
  • Represent the firm at industry conferences and networking events to enhance the Energy group's sector presence and market intelligence.

Education & Experience

  • Minimum Required: Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Geology; MBA or other advanced degree strongly preferred
  • Minimum Required: Minimum 15+ years of energy industry experience with significant exposure to upstream business development, investment banking, engineering consulting, or private equity.

Licenses & Credentials

  • Minimum Required: Series 79 and 63

Systems & Technology

  • Proficient in Aries, PHDWin, Petra, Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook
