About
The Exchange Center for Child Abuse Prevention seeks to break the cycle of abuse by providing parent support, education, and counseling services to victims of child abuse, sexual assault, and domestic violence. Its hospital-based program is expanding into a new location and is seeking an experienced full-time Parent Support Specialist to actively engage, educate, and train new parents on the fundamentals of healthy parenting in order to prevent the occurrence of child abuse.

Primary Responsibilities:
The Parent Support Specialist will:
Conduct individual training sessions with new parents in a hospital-based environment, including teaching effective swaddling and calming/quieting techniques
Collaborate with hospital staff to identify high-risk clients
Conduct assessments and develop goal-oriented support plans tailored to each family's unique needs
Work with outside organizations to meet complex needs and provide extensive services
Provide hands-on training and education to clients in a home environment
Support families with their goals around self-sufficiency
Assists with concrete needs and performs crisis prevention and intervention
Perform community trainings
Participate in team meetings, training, and reflective supervision
The Successful Candidate will possess:
Enthusiasm for mission-driven work and interest in working with at-risk families
Bachelor's degree in Social Work, Human Services, Psychology, Early Childhood Education, or related field
Strong interest in working with parents and their children
Ability to work comfortably with newborns and their families and positively interact with hospital staff
Ability to actively engage clients in dialogue
Ability to pass a background check and successful completion of hospital orientation
Follow strict protocol, time management, and detailed note-taking
Ability to de-escalate tense situations and make clients feel comfortable and communicative
Actively engage with clients about parenting improvements/issues that they may be experiencing
Ability to problem solve and work independently
Valid driver's license and reliable transportation (if applicable to role)
2+ years experience in parent education, case management, or related work
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $32, $35,000.00 per year
