About

Cookin' On Wood is a locally owned company focused on providing in-house food service for Major League Baseball teams. We're looking for an experienced Cook for our locations in the West Valley of Phoenix. (Surprise, Peoria, Glendale)

Cookin' On Wood started as a Santa Maria BBQ catering company. For the past 25 years we've provided clubhouse hospitality and food service to MLB organizations that have training complexes in the Phoenix area. We currently cook for six organizations in the valley and three big league teams during the MLB season. We're the chosen food service providers/consultants for MLB events like the World Baseball Classic, London Series, Mexico City Series, and Tokyo Series. We're known for being the best at what we do and we're growing.

As a Cook for Cookin' On Wood, you'll work in a professional and rewarding environment. You'll have the opportunity to be part of a team and use your skills to provide delicious and creatively presented meals to professional athletes. Our menus change daily and we prepare various types of cuisine including Latin (Carribean, Mexican, South American), American, Mediterranean, Italian and Asian. We work closely with the players and staff we feed and are considered an important part of a team's development efforts. Job Description

  • Reports to the Chef Manager
  • Preparing and cooking menu items for a buffet serving players and staff
  • Cleaning and trimming various cuts of beef/pork/chicken/fish
  • Seasoning and marinating pounds of protein
  • Searing and finishing pounds of protein
  • Banquet style cooking of rice, pasta, potatoes and other starches
  • Ensuring food is cooked to proper temperatures
  • Creatively presenting menus items on the buffet
  • Replenishing the buffet
  • Cleaning and sanitizing throughout the shift
  • Washing dishes
  • Deep cleaning the kitchen
  • Stocking and rotating inventory
  • Follows food safety procedures
  • Assists the Chefs and Cooks as needed
  • Close interaction with athletes and support staff
  • Service Calendar: January-April: Breakfast & Lunch, May-July: Lunch & Dinner, August-November: Breakfast & Lunch
  • Flexible Schedule

Job Requirements

  • 5+ years experience cooking from scratch
  • Experience cooking various types of cuisines
  • Banquet cooking experience preferred
  • Positive attitude and energy
  • Professional knife skills
  • Exceptional grooming habits
  • Can follow verbal & written instructions
  • Genuine friendly personality with a willingness to serve clients
  • Must be able to work different shifts, including holidays, nights and weekends
  • Spanish Speaking preferred but not required
  • Food handlers certificate required
  • Must be able to pass background check and drug test
  • This position requires bending, standing, and walking the entire workday
  • Must have the ability to lift 50 pounds

Pay: $ $25.00 per hour
